Before we can teach a child to read, we must first understand what they are carrying.

This week, ImpactHub for Youth and Children Foundation completed training for our new cohort of EduRise volunteer teachers on psychosocial support, joined by members of our own team.

As we prepare to welcome the next EduRise cohort, our baseline diagnostic has revealed just how urgent and important this model is.

Of the learners we assessed, 94% are way behind, by four grade levels on average. For reading, 98% are behind by five grade levels.

A few months ago, we launched EduRise, a bold response to Nigeria's education crisis and a commitment to ensuring that more children have access to the opportunities they deserve.

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS) held a meeting to discuss the environmental aspects of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and explore opportunities for collaboration to tackle this new environmental and public health threat.
The discussions were centered on the need to build capacity in environmental surveillance, better stakeholder engagement, effluent management, research on new emerging issues of AMR and institutional collaboration. The meeting also discussed how environmental management can contribute to the national AMR interventions, under the One Health approach. The meeting was chaired by Mr David Ongare on behalf of DG-NEMA and AMR-Technical Lead, Dr John Mumbo. The ICARS was lead by Dr. Sunday Ochai, Dr. Titha Dzowela, Dr. Danilo Marino Lo Fo Wong and Dr. Veronicah Chuchu.
