Fr. Martin's faculties are granted by a hierarchy whose leader places Pachamama on the altar and declares himself 'in communion' with Islam. The faculties argument assumes the sacramental system is intact. That assumption is now the question.

Some point to Donatism, but Donatism assumed both parties worshipped the same God. We are no longer certain that is true of the postconciliar establishment.
Faculties from whom, exactly? Granted by what faith, exactly?

We honor those who remain inside and fight because they believe it to be God's will. But those who stay must reckon with this: every generation that declined to name false teachers by their fruits allowed the wound to deepen. The faithful inside and outside the institution bear real costs for that failure of judgment.

Charity toward persons is not the same as silence about error, and confusing the two is precisely how we arrived here.

That is not a rejection of sacramental theology. It is sacramental theology taken seriously enough to ask whether the institution granting faculties still holds the Faith that makes them meaningful.

At the end of the day, many kneel at the Pachamama, or worse, follow one who does. If you can face God in communion with the Abrahamic Family House and communion in the hand, you won't find presumption from me. We just have a different calculus on what offends God more. God judges on what we do with what we have been given. May He have mercy on us all.

He knows His own, and His own know Him.

In 2007, the standards of living in the United States and Western Europe were similar, and most people don’t realize how much things have diverged since the US boomed after the global financial crisis and Europe didn’t.

They don’t fully understand how we’re living and we don’t fully understand how they’re living; even when we visit Europe as tourists, we don’t see their tiny, sad flats and their depressing grocery stores.

That is why Europeans visiting for the World Cup are going to, like, a Waffle House or a Taco Bell and losing their minds. Stuff we don’t even like or care about is wildly superior to everything everywhere else. We have no idea how rich we are.

In 1980 Ronald Reagan convincingly won the presidency against Jimmy Carter, and also tipped the Senate. But the democrats maintained control of the House and Tip O’Neill remained speaker. That meant a lot of people voted for Reagan, but then voted democratic down ballot. They could do this knowing bipartisanship was possible - that the country had a coherent population, and differences were not so wide that people would refuse to work together.

Reagan was able to push his tax reduction plan through Congress. Tip O’Neill basically said ‘this is what the people voted for, so we will work with you.’ That could not happen today.

The US electorate is balkanizing because of too much immigration too fast - which is exploited by unscrupulous politicians. We will probably not see the kind of bipartisanship of the early 1980s again in our lifetimes - if ever. And this is why a 1924 style moratorium on immigration is necessary, coupled with aggressive assimilation policies and deportations of those who don’t really want to be American. And it’s why birthright citizenship is a disaster in present circumstances.

Maybe you don't follow baseball, but there is a big controversy now because it was "Pride Night" in San Francisco the other night, the SF Giants' players were supposed to wear caps where the "SF" logo (normally in orange) was instead in rainbow colors, and several of the pitchers wrote Biblical verses on their hats next to the rainbow "SF."

Predictably, the SF crowd is apoplectic, labeling these players "bigots" and "homophobes."

Query: when your employer forces you to wear imagery that is abhorrent to your deeply-held, long-established religious beliefs, who is the "bigot"?

(And don't tell me "Well then they shouldn't be in MLB," because you are saying you must abandon your religion to work.)

It's the complaining LGBTQ+ crowd who are the "bigots" in this case.
