We are proud to have Coach DeBoer leading our football program at The University of Alabama. He is an incredible coach and does an excellent job with the development of our student-athletes, both on and off the field. Just as he is committed to this team, we are committed to him, and we look forward to taking the field Friday in the first round of the College Football Playoff. #RollTide 🏈
UPDATE: The NHL provided updates on expansion and the new CBA, Vernon Krause spoke in-depth on his vision for an NHL return to Atlanta.
At the Board of Governors meeting yesterday, Gary Bettman gave updates on expansion, stating that interested parties have been notified what the price is.
In the same day, Vernon Krause spoke with the 100% Hockey podcast at length about his vision for an NHL team, including his background in hockey and business. Here are some of the key points from that podcast:
-Krause’s sole focus is on securing an NHL team. This project is driven by his passion as a hockey fan, dating back to his season tickets with the Thrashers.
-Currently expecting a definitive answer by the end of the year with a planned 2028/29 puckdrop.
-Aims to get UGA, GA Tech, and KSU into NCAA D1 hockey within five years of the 2028/29 season.
-Plans to build 2-3 rinks in addition to the practice facility.
-Krause intends this team to use the Georgia identity in lieu of the previously used Atlanta identity. The idea behind this is that he wants it to be a team the whole state can be proud of, also referring to being told that “Atlanta has failed hockey, but Georgia has not.”
Lastly, in a report by @frank_seravalli, the NHL and NHLPA are expected to announce the framework of a new CBA this Friday, ahead of the NHL Draft. This CBA is the last item before the NHL can proceed with expansion.
