“The American Jews must now suffer for the misconduct of the international Jews who are always stirring up trouble for them.”
That was Rep. John E. Rankin of Mississippi speaking in Congress in 1941.
Rankin insisted he wasn't against American Jews.
His problem, he claimed, was with “international Jews,” whom he accused of controlling global finance, creating Hitler and pushing America into war. Then he explained that American Jews would have to pay for what those Jews supposedly did.
A few weeks later, Rankin again took to the House floor to accuse “international Jewish brethren” of trying to drag America into the war. Jewish Congressman Michael Edelstein rose to defend the Jews.
Minutes later, Edelstein collapsed and died of a heart attack.
John Roy Carlson later wrote that when he discussed Edelstein's death with Rankin, the congressman responded, “Yeah, he keeled over.”
Rankin kept at it for years, railing against “Communist Jews,” complaining that Jews cried antisemitism when he attacked them, and seeing his speeches eagerly reprinted by some of America's leading antisemitic and fascist publications.
Blaming American Jews for the actions, beliefs or supposed crimes of Jews elsewhere is not a new phenomenon.
One day it'll come out that the CIA infiltrated Western consulting firms and convinced Saudi to blow its wealth on LIV Golf, The Line, domestic soccer, Lucid, a ski resort, an artificial lake, World Cup stadiums & a giant cube instead of converting it into geopolitical influence.
It was a tallboy that had 12% alcohol and 156mg of caffeine per can. We would drink two of them, vomit different colors of the rainbow, and then black out, as was the style at the time.
ATP Project Connect, via a contract with the City of Austin (over which ATP exercises zero accountability because they are a servant of Austin), has already spent 2/3 of the $300 million Anti-Displacement Fund and no one, not a single home or business, has been displaced by Project Connect? So what are they spending the money on? Rent and utility assistance (and mostly nonprofit grifter organizations the City contracts with) now that will have absolutely zero impact if and when any rail project is ever built.
This Project Connect scam has more facets than any diamond ever cut.
Archaeologists have officially discovered a massive, completely lost ancient civilization hidden deep beneath the Amazon rainforest using advanced LiDAR laser technology. A sprawling, pre-Columbian network of cities that completely rewrites human history.
This feels like a good moment to remember that Ireland got rich not by producing much or innovating anything, but mostly by becoming one of the world's biggest tax havens -- by enabling large companies from other nations to hide their tax revenues from their home nations.
Apple, Microsoft and Google have routed many hundreds of billions of dollars through Ireland to shelter their profits.
Israel, in contrast, got rich by innovating at a colossal scale. It spends 6% of its GDP on R&D, the highest of any nation on Earth. 10% of its workforce works in tech.
That's why those same Apple, Microsoft and Google all built massive R&D centers in Israel, alongside 500 other multinationals. The defense tech is famous, but Israel is also a global powerhouse in water and agriculture. And it draws 10% of global deep-tech investment in medical devices and food R&D.
So a tax-cheat nation that got rich by impoverishing others now refuses a safety system meant to land planes safely in the fog from a nation that actually produces new and useful things for the world.
It's one thing not to buy arms, or to exact political costs for a war you hate. This isn't that. This is just sanctimonious narcissism.
Take the fog safety system, you preening tax-cheats. We promise to look the other way.
Dear @AUStinAirport,
Who approved the Castilian Spanish announcements?
Using the dialect from Spain in Austin is a bit like welcoming everyone to Texas with a British accent. Technically English. Definitely not local.

Everyone talks about Paris and the French Riviera.
Meanwhile, Annecy sits beside a turquoise Alpine lake, surrounded by canals, pastel buildings and mountains.
France has been hiding one of Europe’s prettiest cities in plain sight.
@NYCMayor is an immature putz. He has one of the greatest jobs and responsibilities on the planet but is squandering the opportunity to demonstrate leadership due to his blinding Jew hatred. He will end up an obscure joke when New Yorkers wake up to this failed experiment.
Reconstruction has scarcely begun in Gaza, only about 5% of rubble has been cleared. Almost none of the pledged aid to Gaza is yet flowing. The key impediment: donors (including Arab donors) require Hamas disarmament as a precondition for aid - and Hamas won't do it.
Humanitarian improvement is held hostage by Hamas, which has put its own dominance ahead of its subject population's human needs.
The Palestinian dilemma is that while their political movements are very successful at stoking anti-Israel odium, those same political movement's feel almost zero concern for the people they purport to speak for.
Israel has many enemies. The Palestinians have few friends. True friends would push for Hamas to lay down its arms so reconstruction can begin.
The strategy of "resistance" has failed again and again since the Arab Revolt of 1936. It's time for a strategy of "Take the deal even if you don't love it because it's better than living in tents waiting for the next war to turn out better for you than the last war did."
