The satire writes itself in a clown world. I'm a liberal baby, classical. I argue with strangers, and I disc golf with friends. Sometimes that flips. tOSU 2015
@john_john_son67@hu_colin43137@elonmusk@brivael I don’t think this is true for one building over. This is probably the crux of Elon’s opinion. Decentralized power infrastructure with solar and batteries requires significantly less AC long distance transmission.
@TAizenberg@JoshEberley Yeah, Kobe’s period is so short it’s hard for me to agree it even happened. They won those chips though so whatever I guess. LeBron was clearly better on a worse team at that point but whatever.
@HunterMcGiveney@GoodmanHoops I honestly thought we were going to be in the Jokic era. And before that, the Giannis era. Now, I’m not sure. This might be the too much talent era where nobody dominates.
@ChaseForLiberty@TubRorabaugh Doesn’t make sense for him. His bid for the 2028 Republican nod, if he pursues it, would be more impactful.
I love the LP and I’m glad it exists, but the Ron Paul strategy still is and was more beneficial.
@jackvlloyd Sure, in some theoretical scenario where a state actor clearly engages in action abroad which is objectively and irrefutably good, recognition and praise are deserved. Anyone would agree.
I don’t think international affairs are often so clear though.
@jackvlloyd I recall Milton being questioned about what if X country engages in Y anticompetitive or anticapitalistic behavior, and his answer was unequivocal that the best course of action is still to pursue free market policies regardless. There’s wisdom in that.
@DavidBCollum@ChrisMasterjohn And there are exemptions, in both countries for what it’s worth, but it’s like this interwoven regulatory structure that drives >90% of all US flour to be enriched with folic acid.
@signulll It could also mean that they’re already taking an appropriate amount of gear in Olympic competition and their methods to avoid detection are effective.
Genuinely curious, because you’ve attempted to make this point a few times now, but essentially you’re arguing Scott Horton is like a bad person because his theory on the cause of this particular attack, that it was caused by a sort of political retribution for our foreign policy, ignores the agency of the attacker.
But your theory, that he had jihadi motivations based on his radical Islamic beliefs, does not ignore the agency of the attacker?
My assumption is that you and Scott would clearly agree that ultimately the person who decided to attack is the cause of the attack. I don’t see how it makes him so horrible though that he would speculate his motivations were related to US foreign policy.
My assumption would be that his motivations were driven by many things, most of all that he was a fucking crazy person.
@jackvlloyd@scotthortonshow I should have been more specific that it doesn’t pass the sniff test that Scott Horton is operating under the Lew Rockwell rule as you’ve described it. Admittedly unfamiliar with this rule and its origins other than having a cursory understanding of who Lew Rockwell is.
@jackvlloyd I’m unfamiliar with this. I’ll look into it.
It doesn’t pass the sniff test though. If that were the case, there must be some instance in which the US/CIA were like “we definitely should not bomb this place” and @scotthortonshow was like “No, we must”
Otherwise…
Also, he refers to these responses broadly as “blowback” when that isn’t quite the definition in the coined term.
But it is undeniable and worth pointing out from time to time that many attacks on Americans could reasonably be expected in response to our actions, and that possibility should be considered when determining whether pursuing a particular course of action is worth it given the totality of the situation.
@jackvlloyd Yeah, I can see the argument that he sort of frames all ideological attacks on Americans as a response to American/Israeli foreign policy, and that framing likely doesn’t apply in certain instances, but the rest of this is 💩
@TRHLofficial@ArchTheAtheist But like…how many Muslims in this situation have you heard speak in a forum where they likely would have mentioned that detail?
