@evanbirnholz @Slipjig3 Thanks Evan - yeah, I'm a member of that group but I know it's primarily for members of underrepresented groups, and I wouldn't class myself as one. Love Patrick's book, I reread the clueing section at the weekend and it's been a huge help! Can I drop you a DM please?
@evanbirnholz @Slipjig3 At the risk of asking a really dumb question, is there a general way in which having a mentor works? Is it something you should be paying for, or something people do for free?
DEFLATED is an example of a word that has a synonym inside itself (FLAT). Can you think of any others?
This has been another episode of The Synonym Report with your host LR
LOVED today's #NYTXW. Partly because I took 10:53, which is a PR for a Friday, and didn't even need my wife's help for once. But other than that I thought it flowed really well, some great clues - esp 1A and 27A - and hugely enjoyable. Great work Nam Jin Yoon!

32:12 on #NYTXW; the proper nouns over the last couple of days have NOT been kind to me. (Although tbf the main issue today was I got 1A wrong and didn't spot it for ages going through.) My wife got "Big ending?" which I had no idea on but thought it was cleverly clued.
Wow, today's #NYTXW was tough for me. So many nouns - I don't think I'd heard of any of these before: 8A, 28A, 34A, 44A, 48A, 64A, 111A, 54D, 56D, 76D, 100D, 106D.
Liked the theme, though.

8:42 for today's #NYTXW which I'm fairly sure is my best ever Thurs performance, and for once I didn't need any help from my wife! Really appreciated that pretty much all clues were accessible to non-Americans. (Didn't know 56D in that context but that's it.)
