Well written eulogy for a place/chain I had a soft spot for. K&W fed me, then fed my family. Changing times, changing tastes but it was reliable honest cooking. K&W cafeterias and their “meat ‘n three” cousins kept southern foodways alive and southern families fed.
"When I read about @NC_Governor proposed budget and the teacher pay raises included in it, I didn’t think first about politics. I thought about my life...it’s groceries, gas, and the ability to breathe a little easier at the end of the month." https://t.co/Vhhb7sLZwY

I put these two clips of Daddy together because I want to share him saying “I’m tired of marching,” then, after continuing the multifaceted work of nonviolence, saying “I’ve been to the mountaintop.”

With the passing of Dr. E. Lavonia Allison last night, we lost an icon. She was a fierce and strong leader — a powerful and inspiring advocate for the people of Durham. I feel privileged to have known her for the past 25 years. I offer my condolences to her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing.
