It would be utter madness if the BBC axes @BBCNewsnight. In an age of mis- and disinformation on social media, we need BBC News as much or more than we ever have. And if the BBC is to survive the crisis over its funding model in an age of massive consumer choice, BBC News surely has to be at its heart.
Why would the UAE even need to interfere with the investigation if City had done nothing wrong or weren't a state owned sportswashing project?
They're guilty & they're doing everything to bury it. They arrogantly believe money buys anything they need & why they financially doped for years & years.
When the verdict lands, they should be forced to sell & any punishment must have an impact that takes as long to recover from as the damage to English football.
This is why state ownership has no place in the sport, clubs should not be allowed to be used as playthings.
I don’t know much about the case with the professor who was being investigated for plagiarism, but regardless of the facts of the matter, we all know the media hounded him in a way that would have never happened if he was white
Would much rather an English champions vs Scottish champions game. Alternate Wembley and Hampden Park.
Could even add cup winners (or runners up) as a second game…
The Community Shield needs to change. 👀
Turn it into an English Super Cup with 4 teams:
🏆 Premier League winners
🥈 Premier League runners-up
🏆 FA Cup winners
🏆 Carabao Cup winners
Two semi-finals ➡️ Final at Wembley 🏟️
Give us a proper English Super Cup instead of what we have now 🏆
But it’s true though? If you wouldn’t date a man because he’s also attracted to men, that by definition, is homophobia. I think people are more concerned with being called homophobic than accepting it is homophobic. The point OP was making is that you should stand on it.
immigration debate will go nowhere until we all come to terms it is deeply inhumane to have such massive differences in living standards across the globe and expect people to just accept that
Like most gay and bisexual men, I have trans friends who are frightened, who worry that they have no future in this country, and who are anxious about basic things, like using a public toilet or not getting abused in the street.
As you know, a lot of the people who bought your (genuinely excellent!) music are LGBTQ+ people.
Many of them have trans friends. They certainly all know what it's like to suffer prejudice and to fear discrimination, abuse, rejection and violence.
They know enough about their own history - about being portrayed as defying the supposed laws of gender and biology, as being predators and threats to children, as having collective guilt because of the horrible actions of a minority.
They know what it's like to be told they're actually suffering from a mental illness, that they're some sort of weird, depraved fetish, that they're trying to impose themselves on the majority.
Like trans people, gay and bisexual men certainly also know what it's like to be ridiculed for their appearance, something that doesn't seem to bother you as you spend your precious time alive on this earth creating carousels of your gay male critics, while presumably telling yourself you're the righteous person here.
They know that both media outlets and politicians demonised them to tap into people's worst prejudices for political gain.
They now feel betrayed because they felt your music was a part of their culture. Now they are doing what consumers do when they feel disappointed with a brand.
You can portray this as the mob and being driven by misogyny and all the rest. But the truth is really very straightforward - part of your audience is LGBTQ+, supporting their trans siblings is very important to them either because they are personally close to trans people or they identify with the struggles of trans people, or both, and they are voting with their feet.
You can keep erasing the cis gay and bisexual women who are also speaking out - who the polling consistently shows are more supportive of trans siblings than gay and bisexual men - which is the classic tactic of the anti-trans rights movement - ironically enough, erasing women!
You can even pretend to yourself that gay men are uniquely misogynistic, and even tell yourself that there is nothing homophobic about believing this.
And yes, you can pretend that you, a highly successful music artist, are the victim here, not members of a tiny marginalised minority who often feel scared to leave their own home.
But, ultimately, all you are doing is lying to yourself.
Severe drought has overtaken England and France, and satellite images showing the transformation of both countries from late May to late July are just shocking.
Don’t like this framing. Not just “Muslim voters” who were/ are appalled by Lab’s position on the genocide, it’s the public at large.
Don’t think Westminster bubble realise the political damage it has done to an entire generation of voters
Channel 4 win the rights to broadcast WAFCON in the UK and yet they’d rather show reruns of Come Dine With Me and A Place in the Sun for the thousandth time during the opening game.
Tiring stuff.
Two things here. A lot of clubs beginning to use touting (which obviously should be stamped out) as a mask because they don't really want season ticket holders anymore.
The second is they seem to be using very limited / inadequate AI tools to do it which is creating big issues
