@HalfwayPost Remember, the Halfway Post is a sarcastic rag. Itโs not real news
The rumor originated with The Halfway Post โย a network of social media accounts and a website that describes its output as being satirical in nature.
By assignment from President Russell M. Nelson, I was pleased to announce at the Joseph Smith Papers Conference today that the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has commissioned a new biography of the prophet Joseph Smith, to be authored by Richard E. Turley Jr., titled "Joseph the Prophet."
More details on the bookโincluding its release dateโwill come at some future time. Though there is much future work to be done on this book, it is fair to say it has been underway for the last 22 years thanks to the gold-standard research that has occurred since the inception of the Joseph Smith Papers project in 2001.
As we gathered today to recognize the remarkable completion of this project, I shared with attendees that the work on what eventually became the Joseph Smith Papers really began when the Church was organized on April 6, 1830. That day, the Lord gave a revelation to the Prophet in which He commanded him to keep a record.
The collection of writings we now have is housed in 27 published volumes. In all of my reading and original research about Joseph Smith, I have never been dissuaded from my testimony of his prophetic calling and of the gospel and priesthood restoration the Lord initiated through him.
San Francisco will end its boycott on doing business with companies in 30 states -- and traveling to those states -- after studies showed the restrictions made business costlier here and did nothing to change conservative laws elsewhere.
