Full determinism of transactions is unnecessarily restrictive for #DeFi.
Conceptually, there are two kinds of determinism:
I. execution layer determinism: can we predict the exact outcome of a transaction, if it passes? Enforced on Cardano, does not exist on EVM.
II. application layer determinism: can we predict the outcome of a user action within a dApp, if it succeeds?
The Ouroboros consensus protocol is the most impactful piece of technology that came out of Cardano research,
now powering blockchains like Mina.
So here's a conversation with @_KtorZ_ & Dr. Philipp Kant from the Mina Foundation
about the Ouroboros consensus protocol and its impact.

I've put the entire Bitcoin chain on Cardano and added a block to it!
... sort of.
Let's rewind a bit.
This has already somewhat leaked, but I've been working on a (top-secret) open source library which I am happy to "officially" release. Enters:

As I'm typing up the monthly report, I wanted to talk also about some of the Fund12 proposals I interacted with / found exciting when looking for Hydra related proposals.
Let's see if I get each summarized in a tweet:
We have something to confess about Midgard
If @Gemini decides to build Twin L2,
If @krakenfx decides to release the Kraken,
if @coinbase decides to build Base2
on Cardano they will have everything ready to go and deploy within days
Midgard will be a completely open source L2
We are glad we get to improve and build our ecosystem, thanks to you, by empowering others
Anastasia Labs out!
Things #CardanoCommunity wants Hydra to be:
• Practical
• Easy
• Flexible
• Efficient
Let us share with you our #projectcatalyst proposal will deliver just that
Hydrozoa Protocol for Lightweight and Flexible Hydra Heads for Cardano 🌊✨
What is Hydrozoa?
It's an enhancement to the existing Hydra Head protocol, designed to make it more lightweight, flexible, and efficient. Our solution allows for direct single-step open transactions and simpler/cheaper L1 code!
Current Hydra Heads have limitations like fixed participants and funds, and significant overhead in cost/time. Hydrozoa lifts these restrictions, enabling a range of L2-enabled applications to thrive on Cardano!
It becomes feasible to launch a network of heads similar to Bitcoin's Lightning network. This paves the way for innovative, commercially viable dApps on Cardano, making it a true DeFi powerhouse!
Key Features:
• Immediate opening of Hydra Heads
• Easy commit/decommit of UTXOs
• Flexible membership with dynamic addition/removal of participants
• Efficient halt and dissolve procedures
WE. ARE. EXCITED.
Do you want us to write a thread about more technical specifics and how do we aim to achieve that? If yes, we can analyse every part!

A while back, we at @AnastasiaLabs made the following offer:
"If you are a top 15 TVL protocol, that is currently closed-source, we will conduct an audit for free as long as you agree to open-source the smart contracts. "
The offer was accepted by Genius Yield. We conducted thorough audit of their protocol. Their team swiftly resolved all findings, and we were able to finalize the report.
Now, in honor of that offer the Genius Yield smart contracts have been made public:

The Genius Yield team was extremely cooperative and an overall pleasure to work with. Their developers are incredibly talented, and their work reflects that.
This was an extremely satisfying experience for us. I have frequently complained about the alarming number of high TVL DApps with closed-source smart contracts on mainnet and the dangers that posed to our ecosystem. Addressing this issue was one of the core reasons we founded Anastasia Labs. However, much more than complaining, it feels good to actually do something about it.
The opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the source availability of Cardano DApp smart contracts was extremely fulfilling. I am incredibly proud of the @AnastasiaLabs team for their work on this.
Just a few months ago, the MAJORITY of the top 10 Cardano DApps by TVL had closed-source smart contracts. Now that is no longer the case. Clearly the ecosystem is evolving and the culture of acceptance for closed-source smart contracts is ending. The continuous improvement of the availability of smart contract source code throughout the ecosystem is going to massively accelerate our technological progress.
1/ One of the holy grails has been having determinism with AMM DEXes and make them work. To my knowledge no body has achieved this so far.
Nobody yet but this will likely 100% change the moment @hlabs_tech receives funding for their proposal.

Hydra Auction Progress Update
Here's a demo of the infrastructure & contract work we've done so far.
Next up: building an analytics layer & integrating it all with the frontend SDK.

Where do you see Servo going in a year, or two, or five? A robust embedded webview, a thriving gateway for the next generation of browser devs, the foundation of Rust’s web platform story?
With your help, we can make it happen!

Ok, let's get an intuition for how "Mithril 2" works, and why it's awesome. Thank you to @dr_c0d3 for helping it click for me!
You can find the paper here, but honestly, it's pretty dense, and I had trouble reading it:

If you've been around the crypto world for a while, you've probably heard some tough stories from regular folks just like you and me. Even in a relatively safe space like #Cardano, every time the market spikes, newbies come in and, sadly, some of them get hurt. But let’s not forget, even the old hands can get caught too. Reading through this tough story of someone who got scammed big time, I really felt the need to share some key points and remind everyone to stay sharp. I'll link the original reddit post in the comments below.
Here’s what went down: the person in the story had their crypto stolen because they signed off on a transaction that turned out to be fake. Their first big slip-up was not double-checking if the transaction was legit. This happens a lot in crypto. Sometimes, the excitement or the rush of getting something good can make us miss the warning signs.
They talked about how messed up they felt after losing their crypto and even thought about quitting crypto for good. It's really heartbreaking, and totally understandable why they'd feel that way after such a big blow. But, hearing from the crypto community helped a bit (thanks #CardanoCommunity) – it turns out, even people who’ve been in this game for years can still fall for scams.
The writer mentioned they weren't hacked in the traditional sense but tricked by what’s called a social engineering scam. This means the scammers played mind games instead of breaking into their systems. They also confessed that they weren’t really on their A-game because they were super tired and had a lot going on at home, which led them to make this costly mistake.
About how much they lost? Well, it was a lot of crypto, which meant the loss of their investments, as well as their emotional investment they had in it. This really puts into perspective how much it hurt.
This whole ordeal is a big wake-up call for anyone in the crypto space. It shows how easy it is to let your guard down and how harsh the consequences can be. Here are a couple of things you can use to keep safer:
Eternl Guard: It’s a bunch of security features built into the Eternl Wallet to help keep your crypto safe.
Cardano Shield: This is an open-source extension for your wallet that adds an extra layer of protection.
If you want more details on these tools, just drop a comment below, and I can whip up a detailed guide for you. Remember, in the wild world of crypto, staying alert and cautious is your best defense. Stay safe!
We've released Dolos v0.7 🚀
