So ESPN has pivoted from Shams leaking the picks on Twitter to him leaking the picks to the booth leading to zero suspense with any of these picks.
Just an awful product they're putting out tonight.
@veha44 Agreed. KAT moves looks bad in hindsight of a Knicks title run.
Everyone seems to have amnesia about how KATs contract was viewed before the trade and how often the wolves were declared winners of the trade or how Knicks fans wanted KAT gone over the past 2 seasons.
I like this move in a vacuum. Getting off Randle w/o attaching anything to him is a huge win.
Given the last 2 years of decision making (granted easy in hindsight) I don't fault the fans for lacking confidence that the financial flexibility gained will amount to something useful
Cannot believe how much โthis is a bad tradeโ Iโm seeing.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion โ and it certainly isnโt good to have chose Julius Randle over Nickeil Alexander-Walker last summer โ but for me personally, Iโve been calling it the dream scenario for the Wolves to be able to painlessly dump Randleโs salary.
Moving back 5 spots in the draft to get off $33M of money you no longer want is better than I thought it was going to be.
I think the proliferation of screenshots of Randle + DiVincenzo for Kyrie Irving or Ja Morant kind of warped the view of what Randle can fetch.
The theme of the Wolves exit interviews was โwe need to get rid of our moodinessโ and DiVincenzo has a torn achilles. I think the value of Randle + DiVincenzo was proven to be wildly exaggerated by the internet.
Just in: The Portland Trail Blazers are hiring Minnesota Timberwolves lead assistant Micah Nori as the franchise's next head coach, sources tell ESPN. Nori -- widely regarded as one of the league's top assistants -- has been in the NBA coaching ranks since 2009 and now takes over in Portland on a multiyear deal.
@DietBeginsMon I think Acuff or Flemmings may be there. I think someone is going to come up to get Mara so he might help one of the guards fall. Not sure if Burries is enough of a ball handler but I like him a lot too
Just in: Minnesota is sending Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick in the NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade that sends Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls, sources tell ESPN. The Timberwolves will acquire Brooklynโs No. 33 pick for Randle and No. 28.
@EriccNFL@allthingsmn For sure. Took a massive risk. Sliding doors moment there if they could've waited for the Cavs to make the pick before pulling the trigger
