Actually loving this thread. Very insightful. And been thinking on this. But leaning to ‘both’. In same way as prophets words were ‘God says’ - they weren’t the word, but were saying the words of God. Recording it is recording word of God

@johnpauldickson You got me realising there is a difference between shunning wealth, poverty & comfort and being generous to the poor. We use the term blessed to be a blessing. Make more to give more. I guess that wasn’t a concept of the medieval Christians? They were more “despise the other”?

@johnpauldickson When pondering this John, I’ve always wondered if these Christians had much greater contact with extreme poverty than we do today. Is that historically correct? Has government social security reduced the desperate situation of the poor that Christians were stepping up to help?

The wording is then ‘give to God’. Yet what they are actually asking you to do is to give to the leaders of the Church.

The Constitutional Monarchy is the most modern system of government devised - it is newer than monarchies, newer than dictatorships, and newer than republics.

It alone denies absolute power to Parliament, preventing the establishment of dictatorships and military coups.

The King's only real power is to return the people to election - to dissolve an out-of-control or sadistic Parliament and ask the people if they would like to vote for someone less crazy.

This is why the socialists and power-hungry leaders hate the monarchy. The King's existence actively prevents a totalitarian, Big State prison.

In a Constitutional Monarchy, no power is absolute - except that of the people.

@sean_mortenson Probably why I love @undeceptions so much. To see Christian leaders wrestle with ideas, yet in the process and afterwards so clearly respect and honour, and value the insights of, and make a point to include, those who think differently.
