Parents and administrators that only use wins/losses as the metric to gauge success undermine the value of the day to day work that coaches put into their sport. Lazy Admin also use cause they are no longer in the arena and don’t coach anymore. No skin in the game
Success in high school sports is subjective. Wins and losses matter, but they can’t be the only measure. Only about 1-2% of teams win a state title each year. Be realistic with your athletes, far too much of society will lie to them. Be fair but honest. They deserve that much from you. Build a program about more than just W’s and L’s. Build championship people first.
@coachteeks No doubt! You expect it from parents who want the best for their child, but it’s completely different when it’s from admin who’s supposed to be on your side and support you but in the end only care about themselves..
A lot of high schools could win more games if they ran the flexbone, wing t, single wing, dead t, etc. IMHO, I think politics play too big of a role and community won’t support it.
@JaimeBoswell2 Interesting… you can’t reassign someone for refusing to get a CDL when it’s what’s best for kids and the program? But you can reassign someone based on “wins and loses” like I did?? Is that some sort of bad joke??
💯💯💯 but most admin/leaders don’t hold coaches accountable to get it. They pick and chose which ones they make get a CDL!! Lazy Coaches!! Too many coaches flat out say “I won’t get one” and AD’s just lay down and take it….
To get your coaching stipend you should be required to have a CDL… Having to drive other grown men and women places because they don’t possess one sucks
The quality of football has decreased astronomically since the spread became as popular as it is.
Everything from basic fundamentals to how kids view the game has just dropped off a cliff. Not to mention how entitled and selfish coaches and kids act today
"ABA" people are the hardest to lead.
"Average But Acceptable."
Good enough to avoid major criticism but not good enough produce the result you need. Good enough to have a role but not good enough to trust.
ABA will destroy a team. It's a true test of a leader's skill.
