With a couple of days to consider the events of last week's Center for Public Sector AI 'Flagship Gathering,' the most present emotion for me is gratitude for the HHS leaders from 26 states (+ D.C.) to the key partners from philanthropy, Academia, Non-Profit and Private Sectors.
@JennaWorthen As a house page in high school, I’ll always remember that your father in law was so well liked and respected. Thankful to have had the opportunity to meet him. I’m sorry for your family’s loss Jenna.
AI and other emerging technologies give organizations a chance to explore and improve their mission at the foundational level, said speaker Justin Brown*, former OK secretary of human services: “ I do believe that disruptions like this are an opportunity to entrench values.”
It's true the room was a little hopeful, and a lot skeptical! Overall, that's the healthy balance to approach what we believe is the test of our time. And, the civic tech community is ready for it! @codeforamerica@govtechnews@GSACarnahan https://t.co/P8egXH60nq

Secondly, as the system that will be looked to as critical supports for those experiencing workforce disruption, HHS (and others) are even more compelled to build depth around emerging technologies that can improve capacity to serve in times of even more increased demand.
In the conversation around the potential impact of Ai on the workforce, what struck me is that the government workforce is in a unique position. Primarily, as a large employer in its own right, there is risk of disruption that should be thoughtfully considered.
I was honored today to present on a panel to the National AI Advisory Committee on how HHS systems are considering Ai, how the Center for Public Sector AI is supporting their work and the potential for workforce disruption of these emerging technologies.
