@Mathowitz I do random seating with regular changes, personally. I like to keep them on their toes and am trying to break some of the social barriers/ presumptions about who has status in math class. It is much harder post-COVID. But I try. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Mathowitz Side note: I do grade some digital stuff that is alphabetized (obvi) and one year I had 24 students in class with last names A-M. A different class the same year had 20 students whose last name started with S-Z. It was weird grading! No celebrating getting to S as “almost done”

@Mathowitz What about the layer of where they sit in the classroom? There are still Ts who arrange students alphabetically by last name from front to back of the classroom. I feel like there are *many* variables to consider.

@MadiSP4321 My 1st school was a Sch for the deaf and the blind. The Deaf students called me Jessica (sign name). Blind students: Ms B. It was cultural. Current students (public school) call me some version of Ms B/Brtva however they pronounce it. Weird to think of them calling me Jessica

@Mathowitz Wow. I’m in the Chicago suburbs and single digits always come with a “feels like” below zero. I am hoping to go for a walk tomorrow. It’s supposed to be 40 and no rain. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
