Happy 110th birthday to Martin Gardner! When I was a kid I used to go to Castro’s Books in Berkeley to get back issues of Scientific American for 25c, just for the Mathematical Games columns. Flexagons, Game of Life, magic squares, etc. kept me off the streets!
