The professor will know what you're doing but will probably give some points if you can demonstrate knowledge of some of the material.

@ilovenostalgia Someone smart, but after that, I'm not sure. An alien civilization with the technology to reach us would be negotiating from a position of power, if they chose to negotiate at all. A dash of paranoia might be helpful. Mental flexibility to adapt to a quickly evolving situation.
