Storm developing as expected w/ heavy snow now falling in Hagerstown, MD...so that will arrive here ~4pm or so. However, a deep near-freezing layer (3k'-7k') will arrive over southern PA this evening--so I remain convinced of an extended period of sleet, esp south of Route 30.
One wild card is the tropics. No, not Josephine, which will most likely miss the East coast...but rather the potential for a homegrown system ("x" marks the spot) which has a 30% chc of becoming a named storm this weekend. The main concern is along the coast, not this inland.
Leading edge of snow is now in Garrett Co, MD (photo)...with 1/4-mile VIS heavy snow falling in Elkins, WV. On track to arrive in Lanco ~3pm. Temps will be ~40 at onset, but quickly cool to ~32 as the steadier snow arrives around sunset. Expect a slippery commute this eve.
Ravens CB Marcus Peters was extremely vocal on the way to the locker room after beating his former team the Rams. He said, “kicking your ass out of the playoffs.”
@MUweather Hey Eric, I’ve got a 100 mile bike race up in Lackawanna Co. tomorrow. Weather channel app (which sucks) says 100% chance of rain mixed with possible snow? I realize it’s out of your jurisdiction, but how do you see it? Thanks
A #StellarSummerSunday is here...with lots of sunshine and increasingly warm, muggy conditions, just like late-August should be! An isolated late-day shower/storm is possible, though the best chance is across central and western PA. #Heatwave builds in MON-WED.
Thankfully, we now have a mainly dry weekend on tap. Morning fog will give was to a partly sunny and seasonable (mid 80s) afternoon...with just a slight chance of an isolated shower. Sunday will partly sunny with slightly lower humidity. But some showers return next week...
What is the end game of this wet pattern? This AM will be relatively inactive across LanCo, but a final round of showers w/ locally heavy downpours will develop this afternoon/eve. Thursday: A drying west wind will bring a return of sunshine...and likely a dry afternoon!
I hope that I'm wrong about this...but we may not see the sun again until....Sunday. Pshaw! I guess a fleeting glimpse is possible some afternoon, but low clouds, persistent dampness, and intermittent rain will dominate through Saturday.
