@damo_sheff@CPFCDAGL@sgfmann@orncgreenwich Lots of day festivals in London do primary entry - paying £10-20 extra for shorter queues, earlier entry and the chance of a better position. Obvs there's no deadline or penalty though. I had an 'entry by 2pm' ticket for The Maccabees in Brighton 3wks ago - must be a new thing
@greything@CPFCDAGL@sgfmann@orncgreenwich Tiered pricing/early bird prices are normal. Being a charged a late fee really isn't! However it's not a London thing - I went to The Maccabees on the beach in Brighton 3 weeks ago, got a ticket on Twickets and that had 'entry by 2pm'. I was 2-3 mins late and wasn't fined though!
@QSelifan@rugbyontnt As a Saints fan, if it had to happen that'd be hilarious. He couldn't be Tigers' marquee for 2 seasons in that scenario. If they fancy getting rid of talent and operating with a smaller squad, good luck getting anywhere near the playoffs! 😂
@10Broderick@Binnsey22@RugbyRecitation That's my reading of it. Unless the RFU change the rules, that'd mean no 150k EPS salary and not representing England would surely harm his commercial value.
@jhgr81@tjmav1@BenjaminSuttonx@SamRobertsComms As a Saints fan, I agree. He should continue to get better and clearly deserves a pay rise but £1m/yr for what would equate to 20 or so club appearances is mad. His commercial value would be more profitable for himself and Eddie Hearn rather than the club, I'd expect.
@Bouncyben2@SamRobertsComms Hearn says he understands the financial climate in rugby but completely contradicts himself: the money simply isn't there to normalise salaries like that. When the previous TNT rights deal ended, no other broadcasters were interested and TNT renewed at the same price.
@19Swh@sjferrington@RugbyRecitation True, but I doubt Saints would be able to afford that. He'd have to be counted within the cap for 2 seasons elsewhere (I *think*) before they could make him a marquee player.
@10Broderick@Binnsey22@RugbyRecitation Marquee players can't join from another Prem club. He could only be Saints' marquee or be counted within the cap at another club for 2 seasons* before they could make marquee.
*I think that's still the rule. Unless it changes, it should prevent other Prem clubs signing him.
@MrJogalot@RugbyInsideLine Exactly. How 'he makes money'. Saints will sell out matches regardless of who's playing and TV money has stagnated. Player welfare rules mean a max of 30 games/season & ~40% of those will be for Eng. Perhaps Matchroom could sponsor Saints and pump a few million into the club?
@tom_grantham1@RugbyInsideLine You allude to a good point - if Saints want to expand/keep up with competition in future, they'll have to build a new stadium eventually. Not convinced it's financially viable yet though. More TV revenue needed and the Prem needs more teams.
@nige_h64@jfordrob There's a huge risk that other players could feel resentment if another gets an astromical pay rise. In Bath's case, Russell arrived as the finished article, but an academy graduate getting an 666% pay rise is a different matter.
@internetplague@ijdunk@jfordrob Marquee players can't arrive from other Prem clubs. A £1m salary would require a year of accommodating that within the cap. And clubs aren't allowed to backfill contracts (as in 500k in the first season, £1.5m in the second). It'd require a year away from international 🏉
@jfordrob Unless Eddie can click his fingers to double the capacity of FG and increase TV revenue, I'm not sure that'd be good value for Saints. If another club can afford it, he couldn't become their marquee. Surely he'd have to sacrifice international 🏉, at least for a year.
@NeggCurnow @supertanskiii It's a lyric from an XTC song and the guillotine is advocating for the demise of his political career. It's not 🚀 science, is it?!
@StocksandDares I'd recommend going more often! Odeon Limitless works out about £15/mo with a annual pass - that's without factoring in the 30% off they do every Jan. 🍿 is ludicrously expensive but they can't stop you taking your own snacks in...
@Jenny_1884 GDP is 6-8% worse off due to Brexit - over £30bn/year. A Brexiteer moaning about 30k = laughable. As is faux concern about net zero! Your lot want to abolish NZ policies... I bet you'd be the first to complain if there were cancellations and Burnham was stuck at Euston for hours!
@NeilStu8@AndyGoode10 You're absolutely right. However, I get the sense that a huge % of the electorate base their vote more on the party/leader than their local candidate.
