To be clear I do think OPV is the One True Faith when it comes to electoral systems, like it’s good, better than compulsory full prefs. But to say this in terms of full prefs being “corrupt” and preferences per se being bad is so silly
We call on staff & students to stand with casual academics at Monash who are rallying at noon on Monday 7th October. They have 3 demands: secure jobs, classroom ratios of 20:1 and genuine consultation.
Staff working conditions are student learning conditions! ✊

NTEU members at Victoria University are taking a stand with a two-week ban on critical systems and a one-week teaching ban. In response, VU management has stood down participating staff without pay, an extraordinary and harsh move for any university. #vunteu#vustanddown
All power to the dedicated but precariously employed tutors in Maths and Stats who are pushing back after the University refused to convert them to ongoing positions! https://t.co/EKwC6vatAo
Fuck this is such a funny thing to say as a Tasmanian Senator. “I’m sorry but ordinary Tasmianian - you people are fucked. You’re fucked up. I’m done with you.” Hahahaha
LEAKED from USyd HR briefing for managers on "Overcoming" Closing Loopholes. TLDR: Casual academics must no longer be "engaged for a fixed term" (i.e. a semester) because we "could ask to convert to continuing employment if current practices continue".
