{مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦۤ إِلَّاۤ أَسۡمَاۤءࣰ سَمَّیۡتُمُوهَاۤ أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُم مَّاۤ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلۡطَـٰنٍۚ إِنِ ٱلۡحُكۡمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّاۤ إِیَّاهُۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ٱلدِّینُ ٱلۡقَیِّمُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ}
"You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allāh has sent down no evidence. Legislation is not but for Allāh. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know".
LESSONS:
1. Falsehood does not become truth because of tradition
Prophet Yūsuf (ʿalayhi al-salām) challenged the beliefs of his people by exposing that many objects of worship were merely names and concepts inherited from their ancestors without divine evidence. 2. Honesty in business is an act of worship. Shuʿayb condemned the practice of giving less in measure and weight, reminding us that cheating, fraud, and exploitation are major sins. A Muslim should be known for integrity, fairness, and transparency in every financial transaction.
3. Material prosperity is not always a sign of Allah's pleasure. Although the people of Madyan were enjoying abundance, Shuʿayb warned them that prosperity can be a test. Wealth that leads to arrogance, injustice, and disobedience may become a cause of destruction rather than a blessing.
4. A sincere caller to Allah combines compassion with truthful warning. Shuʿayb acknowledged his people's blessings and expressed genuine concern for their fate, saying he feared for them the punishment of an all-encompassing Day. Daʿwah should therefore be motivated by mercy, concern, and a desire to save people from Allah's punishment.
5. Economic corruption invites divine accountability. The people of Madyan were not destroyed merely because they were wealthy, but because they abused their wealth through dishonesty and oppression. Every individual, business, and society should remember that Allah will hold them accountable for how they earn, spend, and deal with the rights of others.
O Allah, make us among the people of true faith, truthfulness, and trustworthiness. Bless our sustenance, keep us away from cheating, oppression, and corruption, and protect us from Your punishment in this world and the Hereafter. Indeed, You are over all things All-Powerful. A responsible nation is built by responsible citizens. Respect for the rule of law is not optional; it is the foundation of peace, order, and national development. Those entrusted with enforcing the law must be the first to obey it, whether on our roads or in every other aspect of public life.
Law enforcement officers should lead by example. When uniformed personnel disregard traffic regulations or violate other laws, they weaken public confidence in the very institutions they represent. The authority to enforce the law carries an even greater responsibility to uphold it.
No one is above the law. Anyone who deliberately breaks the law acts against the common good, regardless of status or occupation. When those in uniform violate the law, they not only tarnish their personal reputation but also bring disrepute to the uniform they wear and the institutions they have sworn to serve.

Allāhumma ‘a`innī `alā dhikrika, wa shukrika, wa ḥusni `ibādatik.

Theme: The Transformative Power of Prayer and Righteous Deeds in Attaining Allah's Forgiveness and Steadfastness
{وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ طَرَفَیِ ٱلنَّهَارِ وَزُلَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلَّیۡلِۚ إِنَّ ٱلۡحَسَنَـٰتِ یُذۡهِبۡنَ ٱلسَّیِّـَٔاتِۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ ذِكۡرَىٰ لِلذَّ ٰكِرِینَ}
"And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember".
LESSONS:
1. Ṣalāh is the foundation of spiritual steadfastness. Allah commands the establishment of prayer immediately after commanding steadfastness, teaching us that consistency in worship is the greatest means of remaining firm upon faith. A believer who guards the five daily prayers is better equipped to resist temptation and remain conscious of Allah throughout the day.
2. Good deeds erase the effects of sins. The verse establishes a fundamental principle of Islam: "Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds." While sincere repentance is required for major sins, regular righteous deeds, such as prayer, charity, remembrance of Allah, kindness to others, and voluntary acts of worship, serve as a means of expiating minor sins and drawing the believer closer to Allah.
3. Never allow sin to lead to despair. Every human being commits mistakes, but Islam opens the door of hope. Instead of becoming overwhelmed by guilt, the believer should return to Allah through repentance and increase in righteous actions. Allah's mercy is greater than our shortcomings when we sincerely seek His forgiveness.
4. A Muslim's day should revolve around worship. By mentioning the two ends of the day and the early hours of the night, Allah teaches that our daily schedule should be structured around the remembrance of Him. Prayer transforms ordinary time into moments of spiritual renewal, ensuring that our relationship with Allah remains the centre of our lives.
5. Only those with living hearts benefit from divine reminders. Allah concludes the verse by saying, "That is a reminder for those who remember." The Qur'ān benefits those who approach it with humility, reflection, and a willingness to act upon its guidance. True remembrance is not merely recalling Allah with the tongue, but responding to His commands with sincere obedience and perseverance.
O Allah, help us to establish the prayer and make us among those who guard it faithfully. Grant us the ability to abound in righteous deeds that erase our sins, purify our souls, and draw us closer to You.
O Allah, forgive our sins, accept our sincere repentance, and make us among those who remember You, benefit from Your reminders, and act upon Your Book. Keep us steadfast upon Your religion until we meet You while You are pleased with us. Āmīn.

Theme: Faith, Economic Justice, and Accountability Before Allah
{۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدۡیَنَ أَخَاهُمۡ شُعَیۡبࣰاۚ قَالَ یَـٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَـٰهٍ غَیۡرُهُۥۖ وَلَا تَنقُصُوا۟ ٱلۡمِكۡیَالَ وَٱلۡمِیزَانَۖ إِنِّیۤ أَرَىٰكُم بِخَیۡرࣲ وَإِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمࣲ مُّحِیطࣲ}
"And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shuʿayb. He said, O my people, worship Allāh; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day".
LESSONS:
1. Tawḥīd is the foundation of every meaningful reform. Prophet Shuʿayb (ʿalayhi al-salām) first called his people to worship Allah alone before addressing their social and economic misconduct. This teaches that lasting moral and societal change begins with a sound relationship with Allah.
2. Honesty in business is an act of worship. Shuʿayb condemned the practice of giving less in measure and weight, reminding us that cheating, fraud, and exploitation are major sins. A Muslim should be known for integrity, fairness, and transparency in every financial transaction.
3. Material prosperity is not always a sign of Allah's pleasure. Although the people of Madyan were enjoying abundance, Shuʿayb warned them that prosperity can be a test. Wealth that leads to arrogance, injustice, and disobedience may become a cause of destruction rather than a blessing.
4. A sincere caller to Allah combines compassion with truthful warning. Shuʿayb acknowledged his people's blessings and expressed genuine concern for their fate, saying he feared for them the punishment of an all-encompassing Day. Daʿwah should therefore be motivated by mercy, concern, and a desire to save people from Allah's punishment.
5. Economic corruption invites divine accountability. The people of Madyan were not destroyed merely because they were wealthy, but because they abused their wealth through dishonesty and oppression. Every individual, business, and society should remember that Allah will hold them accountable for how they earn, spend, and deal with the rights of others.
O Allah, make us among the people of true faith, truthfulness, and trustworthiness. Bless our sustenance, keep us away from cheating, oppression, and corruption, and protect us from Your punishment in this world and the Hereafter. Indeed, You are over all things All-Powerful. Āmīn.
