@farkasjohan Absolutely, and it's a positive feedback loop. Moving was good professionally (so far), but uneven privately (COVID didn't help and things are looking up). Now the anxiety is being "trapped" abroad, reinforcing the "move or perish" loop.
In NL, only 2-3% of university staff are unionised. This week, the unions and Dutch universities re-negotiate our collective labour agreement. With more members, we have more decision power on salaries, pensions, casualisation, overwork.
Join a union! Word lid van de vakbond!
@HPSGlonk I was going to say "sorry to hear that", but don't think this should be framed as something bad/sad. Instead I'll say "good luck!", and looking forward to hearing more. (You're also tempting me to finally look into Mastodon, but I'm so bad at social media, not sure if it'll help)
@technocene Thanks! I'm actually back in London for the first time in a while from 26 April, planning on visiting BL at some point too. Would you be around for a catch-up?
I don't update on here nearly enough, but today I'm really delighted to say that I've received a Veni grant from @NWO_SSH to fund my project 'The Prediction Machine' on the history of futurology and neoliberalism in British government. Thanks to all who gave support and advice!
