Fantastic History seminar @HAPPatQUB today featuring the talented Dr @jcrangle13, who presented his moving oral history research spanning identity, belonging, and exclusion.
Hat-tip to the outstanding organising committee: @mpalawrence@BrockbankConor and James Orchin @QUBelfast
Lord Herman Ouseley’s determination to speak truth to power shook up the authorities and saw him create the original body to Kick Racism out of Football. Fearless, uncompromising & visionary, he made life better for thousands of Black and Brown players and fans across the country - many of whom will never know how much. People say the progress back then was small. But he was laying the foundations for the fight against discrimination we see now. Without Herman there would have been no progress at all. 🙏🏾
Join us tomorrow for this week's History Seminar with our Dr Jack Crangle for: ''I Hated Being Irish': Identity, Exclusion, and Empowerment in Oral Histories of Black and Mixed-Race Ireland'

We continue to take testimony from those impacted by Northern Ireland’s Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses. Please also consider speaking to us if your work gave you knowledge of these institutions or if you lived close to one and can offer insights.
I am sitting through the debate on Govt's cut to pensioners' Winter Fuel Allowance, appalled by the dreadful braying in the chamber. It's so disappointing how much time in the Commons is spent on Punch & Judy theatrics rather than working on solutions together. I can't stand it.
Please consider sharing this. We are trying to seek the truth about mother and baby institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses in Northern Ireland. Read more about this here 👇
Great night in Cork yesterday for the final public history workshop of our @IrishResearch New Foundations grant. Thanks for making this happen. Fantastic to hear these diverse histories at a time when those on the far right try to exclude and intimidate. #LoveIrishResearch
Frederick Douglas gave a talk in Cork’s Imperial Hotel in October 1845. The black Paddington family, featured in my book, lived in Cork then, and Ireland first black catholic priest Fr Paddington was from Cork.
Thanks to @jcrangle13 + @Adrian_Mulligan for making the event happen
This was a brilliant event. Such a fascinating subject presented by @conradbryan#IrishPeopleofColour
and bringing the geography of place alive on the Cork Abolitionists Trail by Dr. Adrian Mulligan.
Congratulations @jcrangle13 and all involved.
