If you are still thinking about joining FriendlyRB this year here is what other people said about last year's conference.
Here is @tomrossi7 sharing about the participants last year:
We did it!
Friendly.rb just won the gold medal in Olympic Procrastination (Video Publishing category).
Between us being lazy, a hard drive failure and recovery, and then the video crew taking on too many jobs, we got seriously delayed.
But now they are here 😻
Your Friendly June update is here 🎠
Here's a quick update on what we've been cooking behind the scenes for this year's Friendly edition.
👱♂️🧔♂️👩🦱 Three new speakers
☕️ Brew you own coffee corner
📄 CFPs closing on July 1st
🌋 The Mountain Trip tickets are almost sold out.
I worked on FaceID. During development we had to train it which meant we graded our own scans. Let me tell you that seeing yourself in infrared from a bad angle while taking a shit is a jump scare you aren’t ready for.
File transfer done! Used rsync over SSH via Thunderbolt between two laptops, managed to sustain 20Gbps transfer speed
I pulled every rsync trick on the book to squeeze out every bit of performance
Some learnings:
– macOS Recovery “Share Disk” uses SMB, which is slow and unreliable. I ended up had to abort this transfer and switch to SSH
– Exclude the Desktop and Documents folders if they’re linked to iCloud Drive, as it could lead to stalling
31 remarkable submissions for Friendly.rb 2025! That's awesome!
✨ The good news: The CFP is open until July 1
🤫 The secret news: Submitting early increases your chances of acceptance compared to submitting on the last day

I'm thrilled and honored to speak at the final @railsconf.
I'll be sharing my experience with the Rails Asset Pipeline: what it is, how it works, and how to create and integrate gems seamlessly with its various configurations.

This just in: Claude expresses significantly less existential distress than chatGPT 4o when presented with the same prompt asking it to script comics about its life (more detail in thread).
