@mishu70 Ah. I didn't know about that one. I ended up settling on https://t.co/q3mTv6yPTM already. But https://t.co/uc9ztQi0Pw currently gives me a 404 anyway. :(
Thinking about giving this whole Mastodon thing a try, but even figuring out what instance to use is a challenge i can't get past. Fosstodon is probably the closest match, but free/open source isn't my entire identity. It feels weird to have your identity tied to one group.
@erikkroes Yeah, I ended up doing the same, but a lot of generic instances are very full now, so I ended up going with something region specific: https://t.co/lfkvQaSRCI. The chances of me moving country are minimal really and being in Australia isn't an eligibility requirement anyway.

@DerekRiemer That's fair. And I guess that's how things work elsewhere too. It's just... too many additional things to check. I totally respect the desire for multiple hats, but I'd prefer a general purpose hat sometimes too.
@onsman I wasn't aware of that one. Thanks. It still feels kinda weird - what if I decide to move to another country? :) - but that's pretty unlikely, so I guess it's okay. And also, the majority of the people I follow would be elsewhere. I guess that's no big deal, but hmm.
With something like good ol' IRC or even modern Discord, there are multiple servers, yes, but it's kinda expected that you would have a presence on multiple. With social media, I don't really want to deal with that, even if I technically could.
@DerekRiemer@gonz_blinko@NVAccess I agree unnecessary breaking changes should be avoided and I think NVA are learning that, but there are always going to be necessary breaking changes, plus add-on devs using private APIs they shouldn't.
@DerekRiemer@gonz_blinko@NVAccess I don't know what the plans are, but the add-on store may help with this, since the manifests could be centrally updated based on some automatic and/or community analysis.
A few months ago I walked into a music store and a friend there showed me this new @Casio_USA CT-S1000V keyboard. It really blew my mind. So cool and so fun. Type in your own words using their app- enjoy a ton of built in phrases- lots of vocal sound choices. HAD TO HAVE ONE!!
@BorrisInABox @Simon818 More problematic for me is the fact that double tapping doesn't seem to work properly in WatchOS 9. I frequently have to triple tap. And double tap was unreliable enough as it was in WatchOS 8.
@BorrisInABox @Simon818 IMO, the key is less the length of the vibrations and more the pauses between them. I can't tell the difference between 1:00 and 10:00 at fast speed, for example, but it's much easier with more context.
Iโve written a column about the death of social networks which probably wonโt be out until next month โ Iโve asked them if they can put it online earlier โ but here are two paragraphs Iโd like to share regardless:
@KaraLG84@NVAccess The default probably should be changed. I think it's easier for advanced users who care about brevity to change it than it is for novice users to understand what it's referring to. But in the early days, you couldn't easily customise symbol pronunciation like you can now.
@KaraLG84@NVAccess The reason is simply that tick is much shorter to say than apostrophe. We got the name tick from other screen readers like ASAP and maybe Speakup? I guess it kinda looks like a tick, but i really have no idea.
Now that Windows 11 supports AAC for Bluetooth audio, I thought perhaps responsiveness might be better with Airpods. Nope, it's still tragically bad, much worse than it is with iOS.
