DRC Awards for Best Presentation at the 2024-WRISG in Asilomar, CA.
Congratulations to Chris Schaaf, Janielle Cuala, Michelle Chan and Catherine Dombroski for their fantastic presentation 👏👏👏
For 13 yrs @TheEndoSociety has supported developing the next generation of scientific leaders via the #FLARE2024 program. Honored to lead this effort, look at the faces of the future, which is bright indeed. Outsized impact. Thx to the devoted faculty and @NIDDKgov for support
Always love talking about two of my favorite things: beta cells and imaging 🔬. Last week @USC_DORI this week at #FLARE2024@TheEndoSociety and up next @HHMIJanelia! Working with @GeorgiaLab_USC on a multimodal microscopy pipeline to visualize beta cell metabolism & functions
So proud of my graduate student @jcuala for being selected to be a 2024 FLARE fellow by the @TheEndoSociety ! Janielle is a rising star and I"m sure that the training and mentorship she receives from FLARE will only enhance her scientific journey!
Interviewed Janielle (@jcuala) for this story and video about her research journey from Guam to Cal State to Caltech and now pursuing a medical biophysics PhD at USC. Check that out here: https://t.co/1oSOQUoy2Z 2/
Exciting to see so many #AmgenScholars alumni at @UCLA tonight, allowing me to meet IRL so many people I met only via Zoom over the last several years or a while back, like Taylor Lenton (middle) & @jcuala (right) pictured here w/ @Caltech site leader @fallengirl7 1/
Our STEM CELL ZOO paper is out in @CellStemCell!
By using in vitro differentiation of ES/iPS cells, we recapitulated the segmentation clocks of mouse, human, rabbit, cow, marmoset, and even rhinoceros🐁🧍♀️🐰🐄🐒🦏
They showed species-specific clock periods!

When I finished my PhD and was trying to decide what to do next (postdoc or not), @bhushanlab said to me, “You can be a PI. Try it. If you don’t like it, you can do something else. But you can do it.” It was that encouragement, and the permission to fail, that gave my career life
Title IX helped create space for women to see themselves as leaders. I shout out some of the women who create spaces for other women to thrive. Honored to be part of the conversation! #faceofscience@WIELDvoice#WINADA@KeystoneSymp
@MariyaSweetwyne @thermofisher Membrane only! But if too much dye is added (or too long) it will enter into cytoplasm. CellBrite also looked promising but I haven’t personally tried it yet

It's supposed to be a "Graphical Syllabus," but every time I say it in my head it's a "Graphical Abstract."
If science articles can have graphical abstracts, why not a science course? #GraphicalSyllabus#AcademicTwitter
It was a good week @USC_DORI Symposium for the Georgia Lab! Iggy presented his project, @jcuala gave a great talk, and Vicky tied for 1st place in the poster award session. Great work you guys!
