As I'm reading "Body Cam" another unarmed, black man, #WalterScott, who was shot by a police officer trends on twitter as the conviction is finalized. Sad this is still reoccurring constantly and puts the reading into real-time. #COMM316

"We are forging a world where evidence of tragedy must be photographed for people to simply acknowledge suffering. What about witnessing death is so alluring to so many?" sad, but powerful & truthful #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@kvriibaby same! I couldn't think of one or really even find one either. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Paul et. al's article pokes even more holes in April William's argument of online communities being constructive and supportive. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@paige_rossi3 I agree. It's funny that some are actually excited to talk to bots to feel good for a bit, but when it comes to people pretending to be others, it's completely condemned. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

The reading brings up a good point of who has the authority to judge or speak for an entire marginalized group? #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@descorci1 I agree. I think the way they used satirical messaging created a more modern and youthful approach, which may stick better with a younger generation. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@haserb32 I completely agree. I also don't think a computer based algorithm should be able to determine a person's freedom.#COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Crazy to think how we are always getting the news right when it happens, but it really is dependent on algortihms and what those is control think we want to see. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Because the internet has no geographical boundaries, I think it creates stronger, larger communities where people can find others that are similar and ultimately identify with each other more. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@commstudent316 I agree, but it also brings into question the relationship between anonymity and trustworthiness that we talked about in class #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Non-anonymity creates more trust & credibility, potentially leading to a more constructive online debate than just attacks #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@haserb32 Agreed! I would have thought that those in populated areas would tend to be more aggressive online than those isolated a bit more #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

@kvriibaby but I wonder how many users are actually utilizing this "democratic marketplace" effectively in order to broaden their views? #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Interesting that men are described as "doing" while women are associated with the verbs "being/appearing" #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Fullick refers to photos as a form of truth but I keep thinking back to #COMM106 readings claiming photos as merely interpretations #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

(2/2) ... As one can portray the side they only want others to see and hide anything else. #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

(1/2) Fullick claims that an online facade cannot stray too far from real life identity, but I find that most online profiles do #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

Cannot explain the frustration and anger that stems from a sentence like "we need to stop assuming that gender gaps imply sexism." #COMM316

[Jenna Donovan @jd0n0v4n]

When being open and having compassion for those weaker is considered a leftist bias rather than common human decency. #comm316
