There’s hardly a nation in the world where black people have had less barriers to their social progression than Ireland. The first generation of black immigrants were welcomed into a society with effectively zero racial prejudice, and their children grew up alongside Irish children in integrated stable communities.

In spite of all this, the “black-Irish” community exhibit the same patterns of behaviour that black people are known for around the world. No matter how much you choose to ignore race, the reality of race asserts itself.
