An Mi-17 “Hip” Attack/Transport Helicopter operated by Russia’s Africa Corps flies at low-altitude over the desert of Northern Mali, near the besieged Russian and Malian military barracks in Anefis, which has been under constant air and ground assault over the last several days by elements of the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA). 🇷🇺🇲🇱 Russian "help" in Mali is not really helping at all.

Brought in to crush jihadists and separatists after the junta ditched France, Moscow's forces (Wagner/Africa Corps) have racked up civilian killings, ethnic targeting, and torture, often more than the insurgents.

Human Rights Watch and monitors document thousands of civilian deaths and executions that are handing groups like JNIM a recruitment goldmine: "We're the ones protecting you."

Now rival factions are teaming up against the common enemy, the junta's more isolated than ever, and Mali's sliding deeper into dependence on Russia while losing control of their own territory.

It's a classic backfire: tactics creating the very chaos they were hired to stop.

If Western interventions in places like Afghanistan and Iraq failed for the same reasons, heavy force, civilian toll, fueling insurgents, why would Russia's version end any different?

Foreign powers keep hitting the same wall over and again, and it's the people who keep paying the price.

Ce 6 juillet 2026, #Anafif est de nouveau sous le feu.

Un drone Garpiya A1 a été abattu et plusieurs frappes du FLA ont visé le camp d'Anafif, où sont retranchés les FAMa et l'Africa Corps.

Les frappes ont ciblé les positions militaires, les infrastructures logistiques ainsi que le réseau de télécommunications du camp, dégradant davantage les capacités de commandement, de coordination et de communication des forces retranchées.

Issouf Ag Atkar, officier de l'armée malienne, ainsi que cinq membres de la milice Gamou, figurent parmi les personnes tuées. Une dizaine de soldats maliens ont également fui le camp pour se rendre au FLA.

Depuis le 4 juillet, les opérations se poursuivent sans relâche contre les positions des FAMa et de l'Africa Corps à Anafif.

Selon un militaire malien ayant fui le camp d'Anafif, plus de 40 mercenaires russes ont été tués dans le camp entre le 4 et le 6 juillet 2026.
