My thoughts on what is behind Notre Dame’s unprecedented recruiting success:
1. Marcus Freeman - Elite recruits want to play for Marcus Freeman. He is a great coach and a great leader. Notre Dame is “cool” again.
2. Notre Dame Culture - Rich college football history and elite academics. Many schools pay college football players, few give them the tools to maintain/grow that wealth.
3. NIL - Notre Dame is undoubtedly spending a ton of money on college football. The coaching staff and university administrators are rowing in the same direction. I also suspect that Notre Dame has particularly generous high school recruiting NIL spending numbers because ND prefers to recruit and retain rather than portal the entire roster in like the LSU’s and IU’s of the world.
