Goodbye Brazil. Long gone are the days of players like Eder. First clip is from Wembley 1981. I was stood behind the goal that night and couldn’t understand why Ray Clemence stood still. I only got it when I rushed home to see that swerve on the ITV highlights. At the World Cup in Spain a year later he did it to Russia’s Rinat Dasayev. Then again to Alan Rough v Scotland. In early 1983 thousands of new born babies in Brazil were named Eder.
Dear Lucas Herrington,
if you ever read this: The 31 y/o CL winner Leon Goretzka, player of 6 times CL winners Bayern & 4 times World Cup winners Germany didn‘t dare taking a penalty for his nation when they needed him. You did it at 18. You are so brave & a hero in our eyes ❤️
While football does not cause domestic abuse, stats show that incidents can spike during major tournaments. The 'Unspoken Stat' is called xV, and that stands for expected violence against women after the game. A study by Lancaster University has shown that domestic abuse incidents can rise by 38% when England lose and 26% even when England win so the xV is a frightening statistic, and we can all help.
Support and information is available from domestic abuse charities @ichoosefreedomcharity & @leedswomensaid or you can call the national domestic abuse helpline number on 0808 2000 #TheUnspokenStat
Josimar Vozinha is living proof that life—and God—can reward you at a moment when you think it’s far too late. At 40 years old, he’s shown that it’s never impossible.
Vozinha is also living proof that you can limit Lionel Messi’s threat from free kicks. He denied him time and time again, to the point where Messi looked mentally frustrated after finally scoring.
He made seven saves against Spain, helping Cape Verde earn the first point in their World Cup history. He then produced three crucial saves against Saudi Arabia to secure qualification for the knockout stage.
Against Argentina, he made eight saves to keep Cape Verde alive until the very end. He played with the composure of someone who had been performing on this stage since he was 20 years old. He even baited opponents into pressing him before calmly claiming the ball and breaking their rhythm.
With the ball at his feet, he’s better than 75% of the world’s top goalkeepers today.
I’m convinced that without him, Cape Verde would never have reached the Round of 32. And if he were ten years younger, he’d almost certainly be playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs and be regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Just imagine it: he had barely 50,000 followers before the tournament. Now he has more than 18 million.
After a historic World Cup filled with leadership, personality, and unforgettable performances, Josimar Vozinha has carved his name into history as one of the tournament’s greatest goalkeepers. 🧤🇨🇻
Do you think there needs to be a national security inquiry into crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne and his dealings with Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage?🤔

Green Party Councillor Rick Rowe ordered police to intimidate Photographer Alastair Hilton because he dared speak out about pubs along the Thames being banned from having seats and tables on the riverfront
This is a shocking ABUSE of power by Councillor Rowe, shame on the police
I am having a drink this evening with a friend in a Chiswick pub. Two policemen have just come into the pub and asked me to step outside. I have stepped outside and they have threatened me because I tweeted about a councillor banning seating outside pubs in Chiswick. They admit on video (watch it!) that I did not break the law at all. They came to threaten me. To warn me off tweeting about councillors and the council. This is modern Britain. This is the police state. Please, please, please watch this video. It does involve me using very bad language, but this has got to be seen. Police coming out to threaten someone who hasn’t committed a crime. I’m fuming.
I had deleted my post, after I read the situation re the seating outside the Chiswick pubs had been resolved.
But I’ve just seen the video of the police “having a conversation” with @London_W4 & read this about Rick Rowe’s behaviour.
This is the gurning nit…
ICE walked into the lobby of a mom-and-pop home improvement store in California.
No warrant.
The owner opened https://t.co/du9bv2U4pY, stayed calm, and held the line.
She legally refused ICE access to the back rooms and employee-only spaces.
ICE waited in the lobby.
They refused to leave.
So she closed the business, turned off the lights, and stood by the front door.
“Our business is closed to the public. We are asking all visitors to leave.”
Customers left.
Eventually, ICE left too.
An hour later, when they were gone, she reopened.
A free citizen.
A business owner.
A lawful refusal.
This is why PAXIS exists.
Help get it into the hands of immigrants and allies across the USA: https://t.co/Txyhf9LSil
Last year @RupertLowe10 said he'd sue me.
He's a millionaire with the power to bankrupt me.
So I'm risking EVERYTHING with this tweet.
But his campaign manager just refused to rule out deporting black Brits and championed white purity.
Rupert KNOWS he'd lose that libel case.
