Agreed! Postdoc salaries need to increase; however, the buying power of an NIH modular R01 is 50% or less than when implemented 30 years ago. The 2 are tied together.

Our postdocs deserve higher salary! NIH should consider upgrading the current salary guidelines based on inflation, biotech industry jobs, and their skill and expertise for a better retention in academics! First of all, the 30+ year old modular R01 structure should change!
