The Truth About Who Replaced American Workers
You were told Boomers ruined the job market. That is a lie.
The real story is written in federal laws, corporate lobbying, and visa programs designed to replace American workers with cheaper foreign labor. Here are the names, dates, and companies behind it.
In 1990 Senator Ted Kennedy and President George H. W. Bush created the modern H-1B program through the Immigration Act of 1990. It opened the door for companies to legally replace American workers. It was sold as modernization. It was the moment corporate America realized it could cut wages forever.
In 1998 and 2000 Congress raised the H-1B caps again after heavy lobbying from Microsoft, Intel, Oracle, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. They claimed there were not enough American workers. That was not true. They wanted cheaper workers who could not quit.
In 2009 President Barack Obama approved the STEM OPT extension. It gave foreign graduates up to three years of work in the U.S. with no cap. American students were forced to compete against workers subsidized by their own government.
In 2014 the administration created H-4 work permits without a vote from Congress. It allowed spouses of H-1B holders to enter the labor market. This doubled the pipeline and pushed out even more Americans.
The companies that benefited the most included Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, and HCL. They took over entire departments inside major U.S. corporations. They imported their own workers. They pushed out Americans. They were sued repeatedly for discrimination. They paid fines. They kept going.
Disney made Americans train their own replacements.
Southern California Edison fired 256 Americans in one wave.
AT&T fired Americans during record profits.
Walmart eliminated U.S. tech staff but kept visa contractors.
Boeing outsourced critical engineering work.
The politicians who protected this system included Senator John McCain, Senator Lindsey Graham, Senator Chuck Schumer, and Representative Zoe Lofgren. Each received heavy support from corporations that demanded more visa workers. Each ignored the impact on American families.
None of this was caused by Boomers.
Boomers built the industries these companies later gutted. Boomers paid the taxes that funded the schools that trained the workers who replaced their own children. Boomers carried this country for decades while globalists cashed in.
The truth is simple.
Boomers did not break America.
Globalists did.
Now you know exactly who.
So, here's the deal on GEN Donahue retiring- without all the handwringing.
Three and four star generals, across the Department of War (or Defense, if you insist) and the other uniformed services, all gain and hold that rank based not on a regular promotion, but rather based upon the billet within the department that they hold.
The jobs that call for a three star, or a four star, are essentially subcabinet positions, in that they require a nomination by the President, and confirmation by the Senate.
GEN Donahue was serving as the commander of US Army Europe-Africa, a four star billet. Prior to 2020, the command was split into US Army Europe (USAEUR), and for Africa, the Southern European Task Force, Africa. Both were three star billets.
After 2020, the two commands were merged, and made a four star command.
But this year, with the increased emphasis on the Pacific, the command has been transitioned to a three star command.
Now, GEN Donahue, by law, cannot continue to serve more than 90 days as a four star unless he is assigned to a four star billet. His choices are rather stark. If he is not reassigned to another four star billet, he can retire as a four star, with the retirement pay of a four star. Or, should he choose to serve longer than 90 days, outside of a billet requiring three or four stars, he would revert to Major General, with the corresponding decrease in pay.
It's entirely reasonable for a person in that situation to chose to retire at the higher pay grade.
This is not punitive. It's simply not being selected for another position. There were only 8 statutorily authorized Army four star billets and now that total will be 7.
Not every four star will be chosen to advance. This isn't the Trump administration firing a dedicated and decorated officer for not being Trumpy enough.
Trump selecting him for Chief of Staff of the Army (or Vice Chief) was far from a foregone conclusion. If you've got eight, or sixteen job applicants, and they're all qualified, and all capable of doing the job, sometimes, you, as President, have an obligation to choose those candidates that you feel will best fulfill your strategic objectives of the Army. That's the prerogative of the President. And, like it or not, there's no asterisk by Trump's name. He is the President of the United States.
It is as much about surviving in the First Circuit long enough to get past the 2026 election -- without SCOTUS stepping in.
They were certain to draw a friendly judge in Boston, and they are certain to draw a friendly panel in the First Circuit -- there are only 2 GOP appointed Judges out of 11, and one of them is Senior Status.
Very very long odds that they would get the one Trump appointee AND the GWB Senior Judge together.
The Admin is going to appeal, but the First Circuit will likely slow-walk the appeal until it is too late for 2026 -- unless SCOTUS steps in.

I took a look at this. It's a good outcome, but let me fill you in on a few facts so you understand how crazy it is that we had to litigate this at all.
In 2016, there was such a huge surge of migrants on the border that DHS couldn't possibly process them all. So it set limits, and would allow a small number into the US each day to be processed, and those people could then start the process of requesting asylum. The people standing at the border who couldn't get processed right away then filed a class action lawsuit, claiming their "rights" were violated. The District Court agreed with them, and the Ninth Circuit affirmed.
So our courts ruled that migrants - people who are not citizens of the United States - can use American law to sue the American government basically to let them in. That's a little simplified but more or less the case.
The statutory issue is when a migrant can be considered to have "arrived in the US." The lower courts held that a migrant has "arrived" the moment he reaches the border and has any contact with US border patrol. So when an agent STOPS someone from entering, the District Court and the Ninth Circuit ruled that the migrant had in fact "arrived" in the USA, such that he can take advantage of our laws and sue our government.
That is the madness that SCOTUS put a stop to today. Keep in mind also that this lawsuit has been going on since 2017. So for nearly 10 years, we have wasted resources to get a SCOTUS ruling that is just basic common sense.
