@NegativeNew@TJStats The Mets are 431-391 since cohen bought the team. The r value between money spent and games won is .5 lol. Use common sense, how could more money not be an advantage
@NegativeNew@TJStats The Yankees haven’t had a losing season in 35 years. They’ve made the playoffs 27 times in that span. That leads to a much better fan experience regardless of how many championships they’ve won. Money allows you to avoid losing
In 2024, I talked with someone who worked in the pirates analytics department. I asked for her thoughts of the trade bc at the time I hated it. Her response:
“We think any opportunity to turn a 13th round pick into mlb talent is incredible”
I was dumbfounded
@TJStats Baseball doesn’t have one position that is tied to over 50% of your teams success like football. That’s the only reason true parity doesn’t exist in the nfl
BREAKING: As expected, MLB proposed a hard salary cap to union officials today as part of the next CBA, sources tell ESPN. The salary floor for teams beginning in 2027 would be set at $171.2 million which includes player benefits with the ceiling at $245.3 million.
@SkenesNat@KonnorGriffin6@Panther49547104 You’d rather have a more consistent bat to ball guy with men on base than a guy who strikes out 35%. Also good practice to insulate the lefties more
USA Today’s @BNightengale says the San Francisco Giants would love to offload the following contracts and start over:
🔺OF Jung Hoo Lee ($85 million remaining)
🔺SS Willy Adames ($161 million remaining)
🔺1B Rafael Devers ($226.5 million remaining)
🔺 3B Matt Chapman ($125 million remaining)
“They may no choice but to shop their biggest trade chip in starter Robbie Ray, who will be a free agent after the season.”
Some executives insist they also would listen to offers for ace Logan Webb.
“Yet, it’s highly unlikely the Giants would move him considering that he’s a premier starter with three years remaining on his reasonable five-year, $90 million contract”
@AramLeighton8 I'm generally anti "he's only x years old" when he's had several hundred at bats to show the player he is. But that doesn't apply when you've been playing pro ball since you were 15 and haven't grown up into your "grown man" strength
