@FlamesNation Good trade. No uncertainty for Blake all summer now. Mgmt does right by another vet trading him to a contender and retaining. Opens up a contract spot and more importantly, a winger spot for a younger guy. Lastly, pretty much no rental winger is getting you a 1st back anyway.
@FlamesNation Neal for sure. His cap hit was likely a big part of what prevented the Stone trade and extension AND it definitely was part of why Chuk had to bridge.
@Sportsnet@SportsnetSpec@FriedgeHNIC This only makes sense to me based on one or both of the two following things: 1 Babcocks unknown allocations are similar to that of why Bill Peters is out of the league. 2 Darnell knows darn well that win or lose, this is Connor’s last year in Edmonton.
@Rumbles82@LaBeaujardine I found someone last week! He told me he’s in favor of separation and then proceeded to disclose that he lives in BC 8 months of the year lol.
@Fan960Steinberg Leafs need a stud D and surely can’t use #1 on that. They also desperately need to restock the cupboards. Does 6th, Vegas’ first and rangers second move you up 5 spots?
@SportsnetSpec Disagree. There’s often a degree of guessing with how fast things are moving. The error was poor positioning relative to the play. Based on where he was, he was guessing either way. He guessed correctly.
@davedubbin85 I would understand if he declined and not blame him one bit. “helping the flames get younger” should not factor into a personal choice that he has the contractual right to make.
@Flash_33 Yes totally. Sports (and life) would be boring if we all agreed on everything. Again, I’m not saying we don’t need a rebuild. I’m saying the 10 yr timeline is not a hypothetical for a full “burn it to the studs”.
@Flash_33 If you say don’t look at BUF as they are a one off, then you should also not look at PIT or the late 2000’s Hawks as they’d be one offs too. So taking out those extremes and considering everyone else, it sure as hell does take 10 yrs.
@Flash_33 when the rebuild is done, is of course subjective. Is it just perennially making the playoffs(leafs) or is it deep playoff runs. Nonetheless your point that they should not be afraid to rebuild because it doesn’t take 10 yrs is where I disagree.
