‘BE BETTER THAN AI!’
Filipino broadcast journalist Atom Araullo reminded campus journalists of the importance of their role in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) during his speech at the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026 awarding ceremony on April 13 in Ormoc City.
He said that while AI can write, generate content, and produce images and videos, it “cannot pursue the truth.”
“Hindi nito kayang lumubog sa komunidad. Hindi nito kayang manindigan, at hindi nito kayang umako ng pananagutan,” he added.
Araullo left a message to young journalists: “Be better than AI! Magaling ang artificial intelligence sa maraming bagay, pero hinding-hindi nito puwedeng palitan ang isang responsableng mamamahayag.”
Namumundok din kami.
Dahil sa mga bundok matatagpuan ang mga katutubo. Kami ay mga boluntaryong guro, hindi terorista.
Bago mo tanungin kung bakit may mga kabataang pinipiling tumungo sa mga kabundukan, tanungin mo muna kung bakit hindi inaabot ng gobyerno ang mga lugar na ito.
‘THE WHITE LOTUS’ star Theo James says raising a son today is scary due to the rise of misogyny and incel culture online:
“It’s terrifying having a son because people get lured into this idea very easily. It’s a lot about deep seated insecurity, ultimately. Men who feel they need to be performative or misogynistic, it’s about them not feeling good enough essentially, but it’s hidden with meaningless bravado. With men there’s this toxic masculinity thing about forming identity through your body and you have to be bigger and more muscular. There’s obviously this epidemic with steroids and performance enhancing things, with younger and younger kids. And it’s not just movies and TV, but it is part of that… A lot of toxic masculinity comes down to unclear identity, they feel untethered, reduced.”

Everyone felt sad for the penguin walking alone and the monkey rejected by his mother. But this video is far more heartbreaking, yet it didn’t receive the same attention.
Economist and former NEDA chief Winnie Monsod posed an alternative to suspending excise tax on fuel products: taxing the 50 wealthiest billionaires in the country.
Monsod warned that suspending excise taxes would leave the government short on funds for its aid programs, noting that the same failed in 2022 when fuel prices also spiked. She said this would later on hurt, rather than help, the bottom half of Filipinos.
The economics professor added that the "wealth tax" during crises would allow the country's richest to "pay back a little bit" to the Filipino people.

They raped a man.
They gang-raped him.
They raped him so brutally that he had to be hospitalized.
Doctors documented the injuries.
The video of the assault was leaked.
Now the rapists are free.
This is not just unlawful and immoral. It is sick!

“Go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
