The role of the faculty and staff at UW is to help, educate, and mentor our students. In the case of Ryan, he was a remarkable person who gave to all of us much more than we could ever give to him. He was a talented, dedicated and unselfish member of our research group!!
Ryan West (a graduate from @jdumesic group) passed away from cancer on 7/24. Ryan was a very talented scientist and a great person. The last time I saw him was after the UW Football game where he played in the alumni band. He will be missed.

Development of sustainable processes for production of monomers and a pharmaceutical ingredient from lignocellulosic biomass
Research by @jdumesic et al. published in @CellRepPhysSci#S24MRS https://t.co/dXrdilHpFB
Our new paper (with @jdumesic) just got published. In it we describe how to synthesize organocatalysts that mimic enzymatic active sites and control the interaction between reactants, products, and transition states of catalytic reactions.

@gwhuber2@jeanmarcelgallo @YomairaPT It is wonderful to see all of the nice work being done by friends and colleagues!! The field of catalysis is in great hands!!
Siddarth Krishna (@KrishnaCatal) fell in love with #catalysis as an undergraduate researcher, then honed his chops as a graduate student with @UWMadCBE experts in the field @jdumesic and @gwhuber2. Now, he’s returned as an assistant professor.

Check out our new cover art for @green_rsc with @jdumesic for a new type of recyclable polymer made from biomass with help in the design from @UWMadGIE.
We're counting down to the 2021 WARF Innovation Awards! Meet our third nominee, a team of chemical engineers working to unlock bio building blocks and help farmers in the process. @jdumesic@gwhuber2@UWMadCBE@UWMadEngr#WisconsinInnovates https://t.co/14hg828Qgu
For Shakhashiri, "the goal was always the same: to convey to audiences — by power of demonstration — the value of science to society and the absolute necessity of broad science literacy for understanding everything from human health to climate change."
I'm thrilled to have Siddarth Krishna (@KrishnaCatal) and Styliani Avraamidou join @UWMadCBE! Check out this brief announcement about their exciting research interests: https://t.co/n9dVW8jHcu
