Platner should be a wake up call for Democrats that leftists are pushing wacko candidates who will risk must-win seats in an election where American democracy is at stake. We need to get better about rejecting lunatics and those pushing them on the party.
If nothing else, we're realizing that Graham Platner's whole "shucks I'm working-class oysterman" spiel is a wild lie now. He really lived for a large part of the past decade in Washington D.C., hobnobbing with activist progressive politicos, which is how he was recruited in the first place.
Leadership is about judgment. My opponent says that Trayon White is her mentor and even swore him into office after he was removed from the council. Her public safety voting record speaks for itself, too. DC deserves a Mayor whose values it can trust.
Do these people realize there's no story to plant on the Nazi tattoo If He Didn't Have A Nazi Tattoo?
Do they also think Susan Collins would never discover the Nazi tattoo?
On the story of this epic disaster I hope someone looks into how much conspiracy addled brains contributed to it.
Maya Angelou said it best: when people show you who they are, believe them. Janeese Lewis George’s votes have shown us exactly who she is. I’ve spent almost 14 years delivering for DC, and as Mayor, that’s exactly what I’ll do. Rank me #1 on your ballot and vote by June 16.
I don’t think the Democrats continuing to back Platner understand how bad this looks for them right now. I genuinely do not. But for the record, this is not the last controversy involving him to be exposed, far from it, and they’re all going to wish they’d dumped him now, in due course.
These are serious accusations. They are also false.
Throughout this campaign, I’ve been open about a very dark period of my life, when I struggled with undiagnosed PTSD. I'm not proud of the man I once was, but I'm proud of the man I am today, and of the movement we've built.
Hey, uh — which centrist with a Nazi tattoo accused of twisting a woman’s arm behind her back and shoving her into a bedroom were leftists told to shut up and vote for exactly?
Dems' reactions to Platner making it transparently clear that "Vote Blue No Matter Who" was always just a way to make leftists to shut up and vote for centrists, not an actual principle
The question for the Democratic Party is do we want to be making excuses for Graham Platner from now until November or do we want to prosecute the case against Susan Collins and Donald Trump? I feel like it’s not really that tough a call.
Sorry, I just found his denials of everything to be so categorical as to be unbelievable and it actually made me even more worried that this won't be the end of it.

IMO, we’d be better off with a nominee who could dedicate more time to prosecuting the case against Donald Trump and Susan Collins — rather than being plagued by a new self-inflicted scandal almost every week.
Even if we didn’t know exactly how — it was entirely predictable that as more and more came out on Platner — it would only get worse. Safe bet it will get worse yet. I blame him and those on his team who thought it’d be fun to play Russian roulette with a must-win Senate race.
WSJ: Senators Privately Ask Graham Platner Whether New Allegations Will Emerge
Maine Senate candidate tells Democratic lawmakers, "The worst of the rumors we’ve all heard are not true" and denied credible allegations of assault are forthcoming.
