Someone smiled at me one the Tube today morning. And I smiled back.

Surveyed the bogey as I stepped in, everyone glued to their phones, one intent on their breakfast oats. At the other end of the bogey someone did the same. Locked eyes and shared a smile.

Last night the waiter at the pub asked me if I’d go downstairs to pay for my coffee. I misheard him and thought he asked me if I wanted some water.
I said I’m good, and the waiter’s face turned white.

That’s when he stammered I had to pay first.
Dead from embarrassment.

Spent two weeks improving performance of my software library. 20 mins to 3 mins.
Pleased with myself.

Made an enhancement and it’s now gone up to 5 mins.
Still ahead compared to last month, but I’m annoyed.
