@LandSharkUK It’s literally physics that determines scaling. How will a gen 2 of S or L band EASA radars change that ? They are big, they need a lot of,power, a lot of cooling and then there is the processing and power conditioning is bulky and heavy. Not going on a 5pm 500 tonne LUSV, ever.
💔 The death toll has risen to 50. Around 20 people are still missing.
russia turned a school in Komyshuvakha into a mass grave. Fifty lives lost. And the search is still ongoing.
When I was still in healthcare, I received the report from military medics and soldiers who were sent to "rescue" LTC homes in Ontario in 2020.
It was my job to summarize it for various institutions.
I cried for days. It was horrific. It was criminal. And it was buried.
@LandSharkUK E.g. US, Japanese, South Korean destroyers with SPY6 versions. Look at the size of the L band s1850 on T45. Sea Fire 500 on FDI has panels weighing 2 tonnes each, and is considered MVP for BMD, so a 60m 500 tonne or 75m 1,000 tonne Type 9x LUSV cannot carry a big enough radar 2/2
@LandSharkUK To do BMD you need a certain radiated power, and you need certain size AESA panels,so,the “receive aperture” is big enough to provide sensitivity. It’s called the radar equation https://t.co/1PNCceQGuh - so there is a reason ships with BMD mission are the size they are 1/2
Okay, I sat down and translated parts of yet another pompous statement from Jared Kushner about Trump’s incredible peace initiatives, explaining what his carefully worded euphemisms actually mean, so you don’t have to.
“…the need for a broader European security architecture that can help establish the conditions for lasting peace…”
= “Europe will have to completely capitulate to Putin, make him the master of the continent, and live under his dictates, because we’re absolutely itching to get our hands on Lukoil’s foreign assets.”
“For more than 30 years, Europe and Russia have struggled to establish a sustainable security framework.”
= “For decades, Europe and the entire West enjoyed peace and stability, until Putin, in his old age, suddenly got the itch to conquer Ukraine again, fucked it up spectacularly, and now somehow that’s everybody else’s problem.”
“Our objective is to develop practical arrangements that address the security concerns of all sides, reduce the risk of future conflict, and create a more stable and predictable security environment.”
= “You will be required to surrender everything and remain defenseless, while Putin will give you absolutely nothing in return and won’t be obliged to do a damn thing.”
“Decades of mistrust, competing security concerns, and the devastating consequences of this war make this an extraordinarily difficult challenge, but one that is essential to lasting peace.”
= “And we’re also going to blame you and Ukraine for Russia’s aggressive imperialism.”
“Any arrangements must fully respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independent decision-making of every nation.”
= “And Putin will decide where your sovereignty begins and ends, where your borders lie, and just how much independence you’re allowed to have.”
“Each country will retain authority over its own security and alliances, and no country would have a veto over another’s sovereign choices.”
= “Yes, unless Putin decides that you’re not actually a real country at all, but an inseparable part of Russia’s sphere of influence, and that your ability to defend yourself against an invasion constitutes an existential threat to Russia.”
“We will consult closely with our European partners on the sidelines and, if progress is made, aim to move toward a broader multilateral format with their direct participation.”
= “Nobody is going to discuss a damn thing with Ukraine or Europe. There won’t be, and never has been, anything here except our attempts to sell out and betray you to Putin for the highest possible price. And I’ll throw in a whole bunch of meaningless, boilerplate diplomatic phrases to make this bullshit look vaguely serious and respectable.”
“There are no easy solutions.”
= “Russia could simply get the hell out of Ukraine and stop launching wars of aggression whenever it wants, but that’s not what Putin is promising us money for.”
“We will see how these discussions develop and continue working intensively with all parties toward President Trump’s objective of a comprehensive and lasting peace.”
= “Of course, absolutely nothing will come of any of this, just as nothing has come of all the previous years of these ridiculous ‘negotiations,’ during which we’ve been actively helping Putin wage his war. But we couldn’t care less. That’s not what we’re here for.”
Par for the course from the Minister of Health. Her disdain for health care workers is palpable.
“The Ford government sent this doctor a letter over the ‘high number’ of days he worked. He wants an apology” #onpoli

@Spearhead_Zog@pegge49 However the radar picket makes no sense unless it’s a BAES SEP (Triton+) sized 100m+ 3,000 tonnes (Leander class size) with an expensive band AESA, in which case it’s too expensive and complex to add mass, so what’s the point ? 2/2
@Spearhead_Zog@pegge49 ASW is a use case that makes sense, a 75m 1,000 tonne LUSV with a towed array is a valuable asset when T45 and T31 have no sonars. It is adjunct to T26 and Merlin, not a replacement for the helo’s. 1/2
So, let me flag a few things, traitor.
1. "European security architecture" is a phrase the Kremlin uses. We already have one: it's called NATO.
2. You conflate (as you always do) the victim of this war with the aggressor. The aggressor is Russia.
3. "Root causes" is Russian for "do it our way" and you know it.
4. Nothing a word about Russian withdrawal, the occupied territories, POWs or deported children. Weird.
5. Lavrov wrote this for you.
6. Fuck Putin, fuck Russia, and fuck you.
@MKarlDawes@andy9716@NavyLookout@RoyalNavyHub The radar equation has not been changed by any magical new tech - even bi-static ops do t change the need for a powerful transmitter and large passive receive apertures.
@MKarlDawes@andy9716@NavyLookout@RoyalNavyHub At which point, what is the point because it’s not longer cheap, or attritable. You can have an AAW picket with a cheap X band radar to extend your horizon against sea skimming threats and UAS, but need a ship for IAMD inc ballistic threats 2/2
@MKarlDawes@andy9716@NavyLookout@RoyalNavyHub The AAW is the biggest boondoggle - to quote a famous Starfleet officer “I can’nae change the laws of physics Admiral” - there is a reason large ships are required for S band AESA’s for BMD, a capability not fitting on any LUSV below BAES SEP concept of 100m+ and 3K tonnes 1/2
