With usable water stock down to a perilous 6.93%, #Mumbai could run completely dry by August 20 if the monsoon delays further.
Every year we face the same crisis. We panic, we pray & the second the rain gods bless us & fill up the lakes, we completely forget the lesson.
This short-term amnesia is costing us our future. With a booming population & skyrocketing demand vastly outpacing our actual water supply, the outlook for the coming years is genuinely terrifying. We cannot keep relying on luck and erratic monsoons as a long-term water security strategy.
It is time for sustainable infrastructure, diversified water sources, and conscious consumption before it's too late.

Having covered Mumbaiโs infrastructure for years, the recent Bandra East Garibnagar clearance feels less like a sudden victory and more like a stark reminder of a decades-old crisis.
The first serious attempt to clear slums on govt land was back in the late nineties, when the BJP-Sena govt removed encroachments along the Harbour line tracks. As a reporter for the Times group, I actually travelled inside the train cabin with the motorman, thanks to Mukul Marwah, the then CPRO, to witness firsthand the horrifying operational challenges Central Railway faced daily.
While the Garibnagar demolition is a welcome step, we cannot simply cheer the cleanup without exposing why it happened in the first place. For decades, a ruthless corporator-neta-babu nexus has made millions by exploiting these slumdwellers and weaponising public space. Even today, the Harbour Line remains a chaotic mess, airport lands are heavily choked, and prime government properties across the city stay aggressively encroached.
This structural rot is the direct product of institutional civic corruption. Mumbaikars have not voted for seasonal clearance drives; they voted for an iron hand to smash this systemic betrayal. It is time to look past the bulldozers, expose the entire administrative cartel, and send them to jail. Mumbai needs visible consequences.
After four years full of challenges and hard work, it's time to move on.
I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. 4 seasons, 3 championships.
I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days.
Catalonia is my place on earth.
Thank you to everyone I met along the way during these beautiful four years.
A special thank you to President Laporta for giving me the chance to live the most incredible chapter of my career.
Barรงa is back where it belongs.

What made Shreyas Iyerโs catch so special was not just the athleticism, but the awareness behind it.
He had to judge the speed of the ball, the height, where the boundary rope was, how close he was to stepping on it, and get his jump absolutely perfect.
Then, while still in the air, he caught the ball and released it to a teammate before landing, all the while knowing exactly where that fielder was positioned.
To process all of that in a split second takes unbelievable awareness, timing, fitness, and composure.
@ShreyasIyer15 got everything spot on. One of the best catches Iโve ever seen live!
If Mumbai is like the beautiful full moon, Dharavi and Mankhurd are the craters on it.
No one touched these areas fearing votebank politics. But that era is over.
Dharavi is undergoing redevelopment while encroachments in Mankhurd are making way for Science parks and Offices.
The inaugural train of Metro Line 9 or the Red Line in Mumbai. This is the first metro that goes to Mira Road. Now residents here can stop taking crowded locals and take the metro to reach Andheri directly. Truly game changer. @MMRDAOfficial#MumbaiInMinutes
1 extra kg of baggage and airline bills you exorbitantly. But 4 hours of flight delay and airline owes you nothing.
Airlines track your baggage weight to the gram. Why donโt they value your time to the hour?
If they can charge you by the gram, they must compensate you by the hour.
Today in Parliament, I asked the Civil Aviation Minister whether they are working towards a compensation framework for passengers affected by significant flight delays!
The universe is a time machine and the math on the distance ladder will break your brain.
2,000 light-years gets you Rome. Go to 500 light-years and you're watching the Black Plague consume Europe in real time. At 80 light-years, you catch World War II. At 4.24 light-years, the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, the light arriving right now left Earth in 2022. Someone there is watching us argue about whether GPT-4 is sentient.
Now scale that in the other direction. The Andromeda Galaxy is 2.5 million light-years away. An observer there right now sees Earth before modern humans existed. They're watching early hominids figure out stone tools. They have no idea what's coming.
The closest alien civilization is statistically estimated at 33,000 light-years away. They would be watching humans invent agriculture for the first time. Writing hasn't been invented yet. Cities don't exist. From their perspective, we are a species that just figured out how to plant wheat.
Here's what makes the physics cruel. To actually see a human-sized object on Earth from just 20 light-years away, you'd need a telescope array roughly 100 million kilometers across. That's more than half the diameter of Earth's orbit around the Sun. To see Rome from 2,000 light-years? The optics required would be larger than our solar system.
The light is real. The photons that bounced off Roman soldiers are still traveling outward at 300,000 km/s right now, carrying that information forever. The universe has a perfect recording of every moment in Earth's history, expanding in all directions at the speed of light.
The problem was never distance. The problem is that no civilization, no matter how advanced, can build a lens big enough to read it.
Unacademy and upGrad have signed a term sheet for upGrad to acquire Unacademy in a 100% share swap deal.
Neither side will disclose the valuation until closing, when the papers are filed and the transaction becomes public.
In the last one year, a lot has happened at Unacademy:
- We consolidated company operated centres with franchise partners so we could refocus on what we do best, building great online education products
- We completed a โน50 crore ESOP buyback and nearly 40% of former employees have already participated
- Airlearn, our first global product, is gaining meaningful traction in the US, UK, Germany and Canada
- Our Cash Reserves as of today are more than $100M
I will be staying back as Co-Founder and CEO Unacademy - with the Goal to build Great Online Products for Learners in India and Globally.
Unacademy helped invent the Modern EdTech Playbook. Along the way we lost some focus and market share, and the sector itself has not seen enough real product innovation in recent years.
AI will fundamentally reshape education, and EdTech may become one of its biggest beneficiaries. The opportunity to reimagine learning products has never been greater.
I have long admired what @RonnieScrewvala and the upGrad team have built. They have quietly but relentlessly established themselves in the upskilling, lifelong learning and higher education space.
If & when we do come together, we share upGradโs belief that โThe Whole is bigger than the Sum of Partsโ and altogether we will impact students, learners and working professionals & build great Products from K12 to Forever Learning.
The next chapter for education is only beginning.
Sanju Samson after his 97 runs innings against WI :
" I was not at all feeling any pressure to be honest. Pressure will be tomorrow at 9:15 AM when stock market opens. I have shorted Gold and bought Nifty on friday"
We wonโt be ready for that day. The day Robert Lewandowski says goodbye to Barcelona and all the fans at the Spotify Camp Nou.
He arrived at Barรงa during one of its darkest moments, after being part of one of the greatest Bayern Munich sides in history... And he didnโt hesitate. He only wanted BARรA.
He came to rebuild a broken Barcelona. And he will leave as a LEGEND of this club. ๐ฅฒโค๏ธ
Our parentsโ generation was built a little differently.
My mother cooked three times a day every single day whether it was a regular day, a festival, or even when she wasnโt feeling well. Unless she was truly very sick, the kitchen never took a break. (P.S. She did https://t.co/V4FwIFnnLd and was working before she took a break to raise us)
My father worked long hours running a small business, seven days a week. I rarely heard him complain. On the few weekends he had some breathing space, he often chose quiet and rest over outings.
The four of us, including my brother, would squeeze onto his red scooter for shopping trips once or twice a year. Shopping wasnโt frequent, it was occasional and valued.
Life looks very different now.
The comfort we enjoy, the privilege to skip cooking and order in, to buy clothes anytime we feel like it feels like progress and success. But somewhere in that comfort lives the silent story of their consistency, discipline, and years of sacrifice that made this ease possible.
