IATA fully supports @NACC_CNLA's statement and is eager to collaborate through its international members, the Canadian Government, and the disability community to ensure that air travel is fully accessible to everyone.
Canada's airlines agree that Canada's sick leave framework is broken, as underscored by the referenced Gomez report. Let's put in place a fair, clearly understood system that will continue to benefit employees, and employers.

Canada has immense potential for producing #sustainableaviationfuels. Yet government failing to implement incentives to ensure domestic production.
IATA #NetZero Roadmaps show that 80% of aviation's fuel carbon intensity reduction by 2050 must come from SAF.
The Canadian government needs to include Sustainable Aviation Fuel incentives in #Budget2024 not only in order to scale up production, but given our abundant resource and skills advantages, to also create a significant new economic opportunity for Canada.
Both SAF production in 2023 & estimates for 2024 are encouraging. But more could have been produced, it was a missed opportunity.
Getting to #FlyNetZero by 2050 will require urgent policy measures to achieve the needed exponential increase in SAF.

NACC has not seen the results of the audit. Canada's aviation system is among the safest in the world. As always, NACC member airlines stand ready to support the government to ensure our aviation ecosystem remains one of the safest and most reliable in the world.
NACC was aware that @icao was conducting a Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program audit on Canada over the last few months. This audit is not a review of Canada's airlines or other aviation operators but rather of the government’s processes.

This is great news - if the federal government introduced a SAF production incentive policy for Canada, similar to what other countries are introducing, Canada could become a global leader in SAF production and usage.
Virgin Atlantic’s #Flight100 took to the skies today. The world’s first 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) transatlantic flight by a commercial airline ✈ https://t.co/u75pv9hMbb @virginatlantic
Thanks Willie and @IATA for their thoughts and focus on Canada's APPR proposals. Tourism, airports, air navigation, unions, and now international organizations have all raised concerns with the proposals as released in July 2023.
Important opinion piece by Willie Walsh, CEO of the International Air Transport Association @IATA on air passenger rights in Canada. Any regulation has to be carefully crafted, otherwise it won‘t improve air travel and cause unindented consequences.

NACC's top recommendation to the federal govt heading into the 2024 budget making cycle is to introduce policies to incentivize domestic SAF production in Canada - a clear requirement if Canada is to be a global leader in aviation decarbonization.
Net zero for aviation requires scaling up production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (#SAF). #Canada is best positioned to become a leader in this space, but requires close collaboration between airlines, producers and the government. Thanks for opportunity to speak at the 24th WPC

NACC President and CEO @jeff_d_morrison joined CP24 yesterday to discuss improvements in air travel over the summer of 2023, changes coming to the CTA claims process, and the key role that airlines are playing in resolving passenger claims.
@Yasir_Naqvi Hi Yasir - as an Elliot Laker myself, say hello to the good folks in Algoma-Manitoulin for me - and hope to see you around this coming weekend!
@timrichter@cbchh Hey, I used the same analogy a few months ago regarding federal policy on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The feds are going to think that everything they do is a high school dance.
Sustainable aviation fuels offer a much-needed path to decarbonizing air travel now. Lab Fellow @gtauve (@csafincanada) & @jeff_d_morrison argue Feds should act quickly to kickstart commercializing the technology in Canada.

I was pleased to coauthor an op.ed in today's @TheHillTimes with Geoff Tauvette of @csafincanada discussing the need for a strong federal policy to support a domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel market in Canada - check it out! https://t.co/lhw3MveZi9
Canada’s airlines congratulate @pablorodriguez on your appointment as Minister of Transport! NACC looks forward to working with you to advance policies aimed at promoting a more sustainable, safe, competitive, accessible aviation sector.
Although I've only worked with @OmarAlghabra for the past year, and although we may not have agreed on every issue, I found the Minister open to dialogue and engagement and respectful of views. Congrats to the Minister on his decision and on a highly successful political career.
I have news to share: after a lot of reflection, I decided to not run in the next election. As a result I will be stepping aside from cabinet. I was first elected in 2006 and have had the journey of a lifetime. I’m grateful for every minute of it
Agreed. A true shared accountability system is essential. NACC will be meeting with air travel ecosystem partners over the summer to discuss a shared accountability operational framework as envisioned in our May 2023 report: https://t.co/DWt0xLaq7x
Frustrating! Delayed by 2.5h on our own @WestJet flight to @yvrairport because @navcanada is understaffed 😤. We would have been perfectly on time, now many guests will miss their connections. Shows again why we need a proper shared accountability system across the entire sector!
