In a sobering 5,700 word article about the decline in popularity of veganism, @NYMag writer @rtsugar understates the primary cause. When the mainstream public began embracing #plantbased meats after @BeyondMeat and @ImpossibleFoods launched #vegan burgers, the beef industry funded a multimillion dollar campaign that marginalized vegan foods as "ultraprocessed" and promoted animal meat as natural and healthy. While #veganism is still embraced by millions of Americans, the propaganda campaign has taken a toll.
