The A’s held the groundbreaking ceremony for the their $2B Las Vegas ballpark on June 23, 2025. Here’s a timelapse of the work that occurred since, about 2 weeks shy of the 1-year anniversary date of the groundbreaking. #vegas#athletics#mlb
Things the recovery industry will not tell you:
1. The drug worked. That is why people use it. Not weakness. Not moral failure.
A neurological event so complete and persuasive that any honest account of addiction has to start there.
The problem is not that the drug fails. The problem is that what it does is unrepeatable, and you will burn your entire life to the ground trying to get back to a place that no longer exists.
2. Shame is not guilt. Guilt says I did something bad. Shame says I am something bad. Guilt is appropriate. Shame is a cell with no windows. Most people use the words interchangeably. That mistake is lethal.
3. You cannot shame someone who has already named the thing you are holding over them. Say it first. Say it in plain light. The weapon drops.
4. Guilt can coexist with self-respect. Shame cannot. You can hold the damage and the dignity at the same time. I know because I live there.
5. Radical honesty does not give you back who you were. It hands you the clean slate of who you always wanted to be. The mask comes off. The cartoon other people drew of you stays on the page.
6. Nobody gets clean on a winning streak.
7. You have to be almost self-delusional in your forgiveness of yourself. (Go watch Chase Hughes)
8. The greatest sin was not the chaos. It was the absence. Being unavailable to the people who needed you.
9. Sustainable recovery starts with one thing: honesty with yourself. If you love an addict and want to help, that is the only door in.
10. I am only an expert on my recovery. Nobody is an expert on anyone else’s.
If you think I’m trashing MAGA (whatever that is now) I really am sorry. I know for certain there are millions of Americans who voted for Donald Trump that love this country and love their neighbors and love their families and struggle and succeed and fail just like me and you and everyone. And I don’t begrudge them their political affiliation in any way. I just abhor the hate. The meanness for the sake of being mean. No matter where it’s coming from. I’m not your enemy man. I’m really not. They’re trying to get us to fight among ourselves while they pick our pockets and piss on our legs and tell us it’s raining. I’m not doing that to you and I sure as hell know you’re not doing that to me. What could we possibly gain by hating each other as they walk off with all the food on the table. We can disagree with each other without hating each other. We just all need to break the algorithm man. It’s so much more fun finding a reason to love someone than it is finding a reason to hate them.
The Yankees have announced that Aaron Judge has a stress fracture. He will be reimaged in approximately 4-6 weeks. The team does expect him to return this season.
FIRST LOOK at the life-size N-1 Starfighter inside the lobby of George Lucas’ new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.
Imagine walking into a museum and being greeted by a full-scale Naboo Starfighter. 🤯
The museum is set to open on September 22, 2026
@GovernorVA How about as governor you show some balls and do what republican governors do and DEFY the law onoral.groijds and get in some Good Trouble. Asking for a nation.
President Obama on Iran: “We pulled it off without firing a missile. We got 97% of their enriched uranium out. There’s no dispute that it worked and we didn’t have to kill a whole bunch of people or shut down the Strait of Hormuz”
@drewmillar126 Oh boyyyyy - I saw #BerubeOut last night and thought that might be it. But he’ll be snapped up quick he’s a good coach. What team do you think will nab him?
If you're going to release 8 episodes of a show every 4 years, you need to have each season be a self-contained story, like a movie. People will tolerate long hiatuses if they get some story satisfaction each time. But a 4-year cliffhanger? Fuck that!
@drewmillar126 I finished watching Maul: Shadow Lord on Disney+. It was pretty good actually. Took a while to get going, but the last 4-5 episodes were good
@drewmillar126 Yeahhhh, it makes it kind of hard to watch because the seasons are spread out so much; I guess they had to leave time to make Mandalorian and Grogu as well (opens next Friday 😁)
Unfortunately, I don’t have any new drone footage to share of the new baseball stadium being built on the Tropicana site.
FAA has denied all of my recent airspace authorization requests.
As the stadium gets bigger and more structures go vertical on the property, it’s going to be hard to get approved to fly that area.
So, here is some footage of what it looks like from the mezzanine balcony at New York New York.
In the meantime, I need to work on my safety statement to FAA so I can continue to fly this site.
The Cubs sued the rooftop across the street — Wrigley View Rooftop — for filming and streaming their games without a license. They claim it’s unauthorized commercial use of their broadcasts. The rooftop owners argue they’re just letting fans watch live from their deck, not pirating the TV feed. It’s still going on, last I checked. Classic Cubs-rooftop tension.
The Cubs bring in an enormous amount of traffic to an already congested area. People that live in Wrigleyville know this and know what to expect during the baseball season.
