I need to build a calculator that translates 1099-wages (contractor) to the equivalent W-2 income.
Nobody seems to understand the fully-burdened cost of a W-2 employee (conversely, nobody understands how much you must pay a contractor for equivalent take-home pay).
@bradleyflowers Interesting. How many total employees? We only have 9. At the time of our last hire, we had 2 making the decision. We were split but went with ‘yes’ and this person is now one of our best…
@someinsurance It's like playing chess with a pigeon, no matter how the games going, the bird is still going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway.
Today I show up for early morning renewal meeting with a concrete guy. He’s finishing up splitting his 8th cord of wood… Like with a maul. Cut, split and stacked it all himself—took a month, all from one tree. Anyways, most are just like him. Just gotta see it.
@someinsurance My opinion… Buy all the liability insurance you can afford. If the premiums are eye watering or it’s difficult to obtain… there’s a reason. That fact alone should give you second thoughts… it’s just math.
I listened… @someinsurance was good, great advice. Remember when your dad told you to stay away from gasoline, perfume and alcohol? It’s kinda like that, simple but not easy.
I find more and more young producers struggling to find camaraderie in the office… if you are a Lone Ranger at your office, join your state association for Indy agents and get plugged in. attend some local continuing Ed classes and meet other agents like you!
