Back in the 80s, a small group of criminal defense lawyer, led by Steve Kessler, fought forfeiture, but no one else cared b/c it was only for drug dealers, and everybody hated drug dealers.

Bad law was made as a result, and now everyone is "shocked" about it.

A reminder: many, many private firms and public defenders offices have a policy of not filing bar complaints even when there is indisputable proof of prosecutorial misconduct.

Because there's no rule against retaliation.

@ScottGreenfield I live in Georgia and this has been a big story locally. If what's being reported is true, the current roadside tests will be done away with. If you remember, there was a lady who stayed locked up for weeks for having rock candy. Same type tests said it was drugs
