“The world was not made of energy and delight but of foulness, betrayal, and lassitude. Living was hateful, and death was no better, and from end to end of the universe this was the first and last and only truth.”
Philip Pullman, The Subtle Knife
@TELUSsupport Just had an incredibly infuriating conversation with your retention people and am furious after being lied to and condescended to. Was told nobody above the rep can be contacted; is that true? Been with you since 2016 - will likely switch ASAP now.
@TransLink Thanks for the reply. The bus driver told us the stop was closed and that we should have known bc of the cones. So we aren’t the only ones confused!
@TransLink 51502 is closed? Only confusing pylons, no signage, next bus texts still give timings. No signage to indicate where to go (and no close stops in 30C heat). I’ll file a report when home but can we not make it clear ASAP? There were several confused people at the stop.
@TransLink There is a yellow liquid on the floor of the elevator down from the waterfront-bound platform at Marine Dr station. Looks and smells like urine. Narrowly avoided getting it on our suitcase. Hoping you can let the appropriate people know. Thanks!!!
Do me a favour and tweet the hashtag #NoPrideinGenocide this #CanadaDay What is there to celebrate when the #IndianAct remains in place, our children are still being stolen, our people disproportionately jailed and Indigenous women are still going missing/murdered? #MMIWG2S
@CityofVancouver Are you folks aware the traffic signal lights have been out for >2 hrs at Main and 41st with many ppl driving dangerously? It looks like an accident waiting to happen.
Um, hey @britishmuseum, it's come to my attention that your exhibit "China's hidden century" uses my translations of Qiu Jin's poetry, but you never contacted me for permission. Please note this is a copyright infringement! How are you going to fix this?? #NameTheTranslator
@chapps@Hosmeriana It's a fascinating piece; thanks for sharing! My food class was fascinated by memento mori this semester. I may well add this cup to the slides...
@chapps@Hosmeriana Didn't have time to look before going to class, but looks like the museum catalogue identifies its origin as Northern Greece from the late 1st c. BCE, which would be the Roman period. https://t.co/OGUl3fnCsw
@Hosmeriana It looks like Roman lead glaze, but I think I see Greek letters?
If it's the skeleton decoration you're asking about, that's not uncommon in the Roman world. See the Boscoreale cups: https://t.co/lbM1ZSGTfK or the larva convivalis.
@TransLink Who is responsible for clearing snow at stops? There is a huge sheet of ice at #52132. Couldn’t get a great photo but the whole stop/sidewalk is like that and very slippery.
@TransLink Ok thanks! I reported it on the app but thought it might be the business’s. If you could let the city know—it’s very dangerous with a thick layer of ice.
