Enthusiastic nerd. Married 12 years, two kids (girl and boy), loves coffee and wine. But not together, that'd be awful. I teach preschool and it rocks.
@fedexhelp I get that it’s hot out and delivering heavy boxes sucks, but could you maybe tell your drivers not to throw them from the truck into a yard?? It’s a little ridiculous 😑
@Bedelialala I double check every time I leave the house to make sure I’m wearing pants. Have left the house pantsless zero times in my life, but still...
Literally 100% of the Americans currently roaring with laughter about traumatic sexual assault are seven weeks away from having a meltdown if it doesn’t say CHRISTMAS on the coffee cup.
My kid: “Hi Mrs._______.”
Adult: “Oh you can call me by my first name it’s fine!”
*my kid stares at me in North American*
*I stare at her in Nigerian*
My kid: “Hi Mrs.______.”
Certainly not flawlessly, but I did it. Never wait in expectation of perfection or you'll wait forever. Do the best you can with what you've got and be one of those who dared rather than those who merely dream. And thank you x https://t.co/Y1beuWwO4N
There’s something really magical about the moment you acknowledge to yourself that you aren’t anxious about something that would have made you bedridden with panicked nausea a few months ago. Medication can be such a blessing; don’t be afraid to try! #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth
2:40am, can’t sleep because #anxiety so I’m snuggling with this sweet skinny pig #Dobby who is worn out from adjusting to his new cage-mate. Love him so much! #therapypig
Finally, @johngreen, who not only talks about mental illness in a relatable and accessible way, but is also bringing #MentalHealthAwareness to a new generation of young people (including my daughter, who I have unfortunately passed my anxiety down to.)
The late, great @carrieffisher, whose outspoken acknowledgement and acceptance of her mental illness made me see that I didn’t need to let it hold me back in my pursuit of a fulfilling, happy life.
Can’t forget @jk_rowling, who turned her depression into a successful book series and movie franchise, and who still uses that fame and that platform to promote awareness of the importance of mental health. HP brought magic to my emptiness, and now I’m reading them to my kids.
Also, @wilw, whose refreshing openness about his struggles with depression and anxiety have made me feel less alone in the “my life is fantastic but I’m still really struggling” department. So many people treat depression as selfishness, and it’s really not.
For #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth I want to acknowledge some public figures who have helped me in my journey through depression and anxiety. Most recent- @danielhowell, whose video “Daniel and Depression” is so distinctly relatable that it made me feel connected to something again.
