NEW - Statement from the NDP’s Catherine Fife.
“Another attempt for Ford to quietly hand over our public services to private corporations. The public servants working at Service Ontario locations cannot be left with uncertainty about the future of their jobs”
@rlarocque This morning a person I just met told me how she watched It’s a Wonderful Life this morning to start off her holidays and how great it is. I literally just smiled & nodded.
I don’t remember what social media platform all the Ontario library folk went to but now I’m wanting the gossip. You know, about a certain vendor. IYKYK.
As a collections librarian, my supervisor & I have questions and no answers.
Working at a library branch today. Familiar clip-clop sounds of horses driving past. The loud siren to warn of chemical spills (weekly test). The patrons who still recognize me even though it’s been 8 years since I’ve worked here regularly.
@levacas Borrow a dog? You can take mine for a walk anytime 😂
He even randomly barked at a human this week. Didn’t have my contacts in (early morning) but neighbour said the dude did look sketchy. So he vibe checks.
My dog seems to barely hold his bladder 8 hrs while sleeping but just now my partner had to coerce him to go out for a break. (Morning walk finished at 7:30.).
I guess he’s too hot to move!
I was thinking of this owner’s compassion as I was pondering the increased security presence at grocery stores.
Many folks can no longer afford the basics to survive.

I felt bad waking up the unhoused person but he wasn’t even sleeping on a bench, just had his head leaning against it, the rest of his body scrunched up on the ground.
I kept repeating “Hey are you okay?” until he finally lifted his head and mumbled he was fine.
DM from a cardiac ICU nurse:
"We had to block critical care beds that could serve patients experiencing a heart attack all because we couldn't find nurses to staff them. No one seems to care about the dangerous shortage of nurses except those of us working in the system. It's scary because things are only getting worse."
Read it again.
They have lots of well-equipped empty beds but no nurses. Properly furnished "state-of-the-art" (in Doug Ford's voice), hospitals without nurses are useless. #onpoli
@simplyjennifer Yeah, so many folks are quoting Meditations but I haven’t figured out what spurred recent resurgence.
Was trying to get it via inter library loan for a patron but it’s checked out everywhere!
What happened that 1800 years after it was written, Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations are so popular right now, every copy is currently checked out of Ontario libraries? Did some pundit or politician mention it?
Hopefully this doggy made their way home.
Spotted loose around Queen and Schneider about an hour ago, near downtown #Kitchener
Had my dog with me so couldn’t follow.
Bipolar & PTSD are not "inner demons”
That’s archaic language that frames mental illness/trauma as being possessed by evil spirits
We demonize brave women while they live and then saint them when they die

I’ve gotten a lot of new followers lately, so it’s a good day to urgently remind everyone that ALL clothing is handmade. It doesn’t matter if it’s a $2 t-shirt or $20,000 couture, someone had to make it. We don’t have automatic clothes-sewing machines.
@SkepCdnChick@Imani_Barbarin And it’s not even so much that we’re “importing” it; just allowing it to be visible since we see it in the US it’s “okay” to show here now. Or that’s what it looks like to me.
I myself flip-flop on strategic voting too; it just seems hopeless sometimes.
