@andrewgil136107 I agree that brand safety considerations are super important and this really allows the users to get a more targeted ad that can help both companies and content creators. #beachsmc
While social media can amplify & spread news of social issues, there’s a disconnect of positive engagement that’s created by the effects of spreading news such as canceled flights & areas shutting down, which further enhances negative reactions. #beachsmc

Having no limits or restrictions on social media for the youth is increasing mental health issues and creating a generation that must always be stimulated by social media. The downfall is that there aren’t many ways to battle this problem. #beachsmc

@ayhtakk_@voxdotcom While phone bans during school hours may be beneficial in regards to better learning habits and mental health, I think that completely banning phones from students also restricts students from a form to gain easy assessment to education as well as violates students rights.
As Florida and Texas pass laws that hinder our first amendment rights, SCOTUS is debating about whether its users actually have free speech. This is detrimental to american’s rights as they have the power to start censoring our speech. #BEACHSMC

In a new bill, Florida bans kids of the age 14 and under from certain services on Tik Tok and Instagram. While I understand the concern around social media for children, I don’t agree that free and public platforms should be banned as it violates rights.

@ttrancsulb Wow! This really was a greedy decision that affects influencers and content creators. I think they didn’t want to see anyone getting paid more than them which is super sad. Hopefully users can find and alternative way to promote music and earn some more revenue.
The Florida governor vetoed a bill that would ban minors under the age of 16 to social media websites even if they have parental consent. He’s making a bigger plan to change the age to all under 18 which I think is more harmful, social media is a tool.

Social media is full of toxic masculinity which has made it difficult for young boys to have a good role model. Men and other positive influences need to push to create positive content to allow young men to no longer subject to misogyny and bad behavior.

@ttrancsulb I also use Pinterest on a daily basis and find it extremely upsetting that they’re changing their content for a higher pay out. Unfortunately, with more monetized markets it’s the only way for their company to stay intact.
Nickelodeon broadcasted the 2024 NFL Super Bowl and had brilliant marketing that allowed younger audiences to learn and enjoy football. This took a storm through all social media platforms with memes and trends. #BeachSMC

@vianneSMC I complete agree that ads have become the new headline of social media and has convinced social media users that to become famous they must sell something.
Social Media as whole through selective platforms like Discord, Reddit, and Facebook are allowing smaller groups, like extremist, in specific topics to create a discrepancy within communities with no scrutiny. #BEACHSMC

The proliferation of Tik Tok shop has allowed for many unaccredited users to promote wellness trends that aren’t actually beneficial for its viewers and has created trends of social capitalism. #BEACHSMC
